Agreed that new laws need to be put into place. Basically we need something that states in no uncertain terms, "No individual citizen may have a total net worth - comprised either of US dollars, stocks, or other assets - exceeding $50 million USD". And there would need to be a program for efficiently redistributing the hoarded wealth of billionaires to people who would most benefit.
So if you start a company, as soon as the value of the company hits $50 million, what happens? You can't sell it, because no one is allowed to have enough money to buy it. Would you be forced to put it on the stock market? Would it just become government property? How would that work?

Show me where someone flew across space before TLJ. oh wai
Jedi can use the force to levitate themselves for a short time and push their own bodies to jump super high (that's what they call "force jump"). The only reason they can't fly is because going against the force of gravity for so long requires too much concentration and energy, and would exhaust themselves if they tried to do it for more than a short distance.

But in space, there is no gravity so all she would need to do is give herself a little push and then she could float to wherever she wants. It's basically just force jump without gravity.

I think it can be a bit harsh to judge the situation without being involved, like, for a woman safety comes first and foremost.
For someone you've only dated a few times, fine, I can accept that, but they've been dating for three years. You should know at that point if someone is dangerous enough that you have to worry about that. And even if safety is a concern you can still call the person, which isn't ideal but better than a text.

I still don't judge her as a human being, maybe she's a good person in general but for some reason she was really shitty with this breakup. Maybe this was a bad moment for her and she feels really bad about it. That doesn't change the fact that what she did here was shitty and she should feel bad about breaking up with her boyfriend of three years with a text.

Anyway it's not that big a deal, he wanted to break up so should just forget her and move on (which he is doing).

Go to 12:25 for an in-depth explanation of what "grooming" actually means. Be prepared, it is NOT an easy watch, especially if you have been abused as a child.

Yes, if you're gonna "well actually," you can manipulate adults and do things that are kinda similar to grooming, but it's nowhere near as scarring or traumatizing as gaining a child's trust so they will be open to sexual acts they are physically not ready for, manipulating them to be afraid to tell other adults or even to think it's their own fault, and leave them horribly psychologically damaged (not to mention physically in many many cases) for the rest of their lives just to make yourself feel good.

It disgusts me that the right wing has coopted this to refer to anything referencing queerness that someone under 18 might see (and they're trying to push the age up until no one can see them) or implying that just letting gay/trans kids be themselves is somehow "grooming" them for sex acts. I hate seeing the word be diluted like this.

So I'm gonna push back when I see anyone help them dilute its meaning, even when they're doing it to demonize someone like Crowder who absolutely is a horrible bigot AND a serial sexual harasser, bully, abusive to his wife... the list goes on and on. But I don't Ike him being called a "groomer."

Who said it plummeted? Salaries of people with degrees are still a lot higher than those without one, and the gap has only widened over time. These are the average salaries by education level as of a year or two ago:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/2/9/2/AAAJePAAErY0.jpg
The average salary of someone with a bachelor's degree versus someone with just a high school diploma is more than double.

The reason people are wondering if it's worth it isn't the value of the degree, it's the high cost. But when you look at the numbers, people without university diplomas have a big disadvantage, and technology is likely to make that gap even bigger over time. We need to get the costs of college to more reasonable levels like they used to be, not discourage people from going.

You have to understand their point of view. When there are only a few candidates they can look closely at each one to judge who is the best candidate. They need to get it down to a more manageable number.

The thinking is that if you graduate university that means you probably have a larger base of general knowledge, more experience in things like writing papers and doing independent research, and various other little things that they thing make you likely to be better prepared for office work than someone with just a high school degree and certification.

If you have both relevant certification and a degree in IT, that means you should have a good amount of practice with programming and other IT work, as well as a larger knowledge base in related areas of IT that could potentially be useful. That would make you a more attractive candidate than someone with certification only assuming both of you have little to no work experience.

I'm not saying that's right or wrong, but that's the way they think of it.

I mentioned this in another post but I'll go into a little more depth.

A 20 year old who is really the same maturity level as a 40 year old is extremely rare. Immature 40 year olds are a lot more common. So if a 40 year old has the same maturity level as a 20 year old, chances are that's because the 40 year old stopped maturing when they were about at the level of a 20 year old. So the 20 year old is going to mature normally, but the 40 year old is going to stay the same.

They may start out in sync with each other but as the 20 year old matures and the 40 year old doesn't, that's going to change. And the 20 year old is going to get more and more fed up with the manchild's (or womanchild's) bullshit.

Is it illegal? Obviously not.

Should it be illegal? I don't think so.

Is it a good idea? Probably not. A lot of people target younger people because they think their immaturity can let them feel superior and/or manipulate the younger partner.

If it's not that, my observation is that most of the time it's a situation where the older person is stuck in an immature mindset. At first they're on the same wavelength, but eventually the younger person will mature and get tired of the older person's bullshit real fast.

I knew several girls in college who had relationships like that. They all ended badly. One of them had a wife and family he wasn't telling the girl about... I remember one of them was dating a 40 year old when she was 20 and saying, "It's amazing, I'm finally dating someone at the same maturity level as me!" Six month later she was telling us how she didn't know what she ever saw in that man-child lol.

Anyway I think they should have every right to date but I wouldn't recommend it. Once she hits 30 it won't matter, but 12 years is still a huge gap at those ages.

Of course she wasn't. You act like people only like her as some sort of virtue signaling because she's female and Muslim. But that's not true, and this is the proof. The other Muslim heroes that came before didn't get popular because people thought they were boring, or because the stories they were in were bad, or who knows what reason. We don't just like any Muslim / female character who comes along. We like Kamala Khan because we think she's good.

I think he will probably be convicted, but he might run out the clock until he dies.

Even if he's convicted, though, due to Secret Security concerns they probably won't be able to put him in a regular prison cell. He might get a special minimum security cell but house arrest seems more likely.

Usually when type tag, people assume you labeling someone.
Yes, that's true, and they could have been labeling you as literally anything. Yet you immediately assumed you were being labeled as a racist.

I wonder why...
