I don't normally work the morning shift, but this week's schedule iis all sorts of messed up. So, I was having a fairly bad day, got yelled at by 3 different guests for things that were their own fault/stupidity.

Then finally the last guest came to check out. She was very nice and polite, I asked if she had a nice stay, and she the hotel was fine but the convention she attended didn't go well. She said she was the main speaker at the event, and tried selling her book but that she didn't get type of attention she was expecting.

So, being polite I asked about her book. But turns out she didn't write it, she was just vending it I guess. Then she complained about the food, entertainment, and atmosphere. Said that all the guests were invited to a party afterwards and it turned out to be a drag party lol. She was very upset at how unprofessional the whole ordeal was.

So, I asked what kind of convention it was, as I hadn't heard of any going on. Turns out she is one of the heads of MUFON(the UFO network). It was a hybrid cryptid/alien event and they asked if she wanted to come speak. I guess she thought it'd be more of a scientific event rather than a campy fun one like it turned out to be. She didn't feel the people were taking it as seriously as they should.

Anyways, she stayed and chatted for about an hour. It was actually pretty fun talking to her and hearing about all the stuff they do at MUFON. Some of my coworkers were giving her the bombastic side eye though, lol.

I like to think aliens exist, and some UFO stuff might be real. It's fun to entertain the idea, and I can't disprove it, so I don't see any real harm in that stuff. But she was REALLY, really really, very seriously into it. I guess you have to be to one of the leaders of MUFON, but like, she took it very dead serious.

I hate to promote stereotypes, especially for how nice she was, but the more we talked, the more she just seemed off kilter about things. She'd talk matter of fact about one thing, then the next sentence is some wild conclusion a conspiracy nut would come up with.

She shared lots of stories, and it was interesting and fun to hear her stories, but that was the longest conversation I've had in ages.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

There were a couple of other reasons too. The distance was much further than I realized. I thought she was an hour away, but was actually a bit more than 2 hours away. I've never travelled on my own and that distance was intimidating.

Also, I knew my social anxiety would be an issue, but once she said yes and it was officially a commitment to meet... It went into overdrive. Just thinking about ACTUALLY meeting her was pushing me into panic attacks. It made me realize it would be more of a wall rather than a hurdle.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Just because I'd never directly asked before doesn't mean I was never rejected. I've had loads of people irl reject me because they thought I was interested when I wasn't. Others were right and I had been interested before they decided I had no chance. Then I've tried online dating a lot. I got tons of matches, sent loads of personalized messages based on their profiles, and either got unmatched or ghosted. Then the one person I ever met up with(which is whole thing on it's own and was not my idea) told me off. We were just supposed to try to be friends as we both needed those. But instead she used the opportunity to tell me I wasn't good enough to be with her, and that she needs a man that could please her sexually and it wasn't me. Then proceeded to tell me about the other guys she was screwing, including one guy I knew. Once she realized that she was telling me all the details I didn't want to know about, like his size, what he does to her before penetration, how he likes to finish. I had to just end our "friendship" at that point.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Nah, she is the outlier.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

That's exactly why it was a safer bet that she'd say yes, and half the reason I was using it. Yeah, it surprised me that she said yes, and if my 2 bumble matches she was the only one who actually communicated beyond the first message.
[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Thanks, it's nice to know others believe in me when I don't believe in myself. But it really does feel like wasted effort on your part, I found a singular partial success on an app designed to facilitate that, and it still scared me and led to nothing.

Pretty awful. I thought things would turn around after high school. I came into some money due to a legal settlement, which I had planned to save and invest. Dad had other ideas and drained my bank account like a ruptured dam. Also was taken advantage of the few times I attempted to invest.

Then once I had no more money for him, dad became more hostile than normal. I had to get a real job(I'd worked unofficial jobs before like mowing people's lawns, and helping out on farms). The management sucked, which I've learned is true at every job, but it was ridiculous at that job.

The only thing that was better back then was that I was ignorant of how big of a failure I was. Still had hope that things would change.

Both parents were present. Unhappily married and taking their frustrations out on each other and their kids.

Dad is a mean spirited, vindictive, hateful, controlling, and abusive asshole. Nothing and no one else matters to him except himself. Views us as his belongings, and so we had to live how he wanted or else he felt we shouldn't live.

Mom is better, but also has controlling and manipulative tendencies as well. I tend to get along with her really well, she recently said we're closer to friends than mother/son, and that was nice. But she also has anger issues and after what dad out her through tends to have moments where she explodes with anger for seemingly no reason.

I feel like this is the best option. It's clear that he's a danger to himself and others, and is out of control. He needs help before he hurts someone or himself. He's not going to seek help on his own.

I think that's what should've happened last time after he basically kidnapped his gf. He might not like it, but just may save his life.

Also, based on the pics in the op, fat Waller looks like she's about rip someone a new one, while skinny Waller looks like she's about to fire someone for not getting her the right coffee order.

As for something you touched on early on but I've seen no one mention in this topic so far, you should really check your state's laws and the zoning laws of your area as well as your lease. While what the landlord is doing is very likely illegal, it is quite possible you running a small business out of a residential facility (especially one you don't live in) is also illegal.
I don't think it is. I'm pretty sure it's a commercial building. It used to be part of the town office like 50 years ago. Then it was the doctor's office. Then he converted it into an apartment after that. Then it was a lawyer's office until about 3 months ago.

I think he just advertised it as an apartment to expand who might want to rent it. Then again, idk for absolute certain either.

Well, I live outside of town. My original plan was to move into the apartment. But then since mom was opening a business next door, someone suggested that I open one too and basically have almost the entire ground floor to use.

The landlord left a bunch of furniture for us to use. But the friend got the keys from him and went in and cleared everything out that she wanted. Then they kept the keys from us and we had to keep asking to be let in. But we finally told him we needed the keys, and got our own set. Now everytime we go there and do anything, one or both of them go in after we leave to see if theres anything they like.

The friend has been told repeatedly to stay out of my side, but she still goes in. So does he, and they've apparently just been hanging out in my kitchen.

itcheyness posted...
Keep an eye on the place when you're not around and call the cops when you see them enter.
That will be difficult. It's a small town, there's literally just open space around and his apartment overlooks where we'd be watching from. Unless we just do random drive bys hoping to catch a light on.

itcheyness posted...
Maybe also set up some cameras to document them entering your unit without permission.
Cameras for sure once we can get some set up. Preferably ones we can watch from home too... Though that'd be a bit weird if I ever did things sorted and decided to stay some. Wouldn't want to be watched through the cameras myself.

Ah, I see. Hm, I don't think talking with him will help anything either, but I suppose it's my only option at this point.

I bought some pictures for the walls, and set them inside. That night mom got a text from the friend asking if she could have them. She sent us a selfie with her holding my pictures while still in my apartment. Mom told her no, and to get out, but she claimed the picture was taken earlier in the day and she wasn't in there... We had just dropped the pictures off like an hour before. >_>

I'm not having him do anything. Mom called and asked why he left the door unlocked tonight, he admitted they were in there today. But said he'd change the locks anyway, but that won't solve anything. He'll just keep a copy. Plus, he's got keys to mom's side and there's a connecting door between them and he can still access it from her side.

Are you renting like, the upstairs of someone's house or something?

I'm just wondering why a landlord would even be doing that
Nope, it's an office building on main street. It's sectioned off into thirds, upstairs and downstairs. He runs a barbershop on the corner. Mom is renting the center section for her business. I'm renting the apartment in the far corner next to mom's. Landlord lives upstairs above his barbershop. His friend lives above mom's section. And another tenant lives above mine, but he doesn't cause any problems except once he came in when we thought the door was locked before opening.

I suppose he thinks since he owns it that he can still do whatever he wants, despite it being someone else's business.

Ask your landlord if this is a Stand Your Ground state.

That should put an end to things right there.

Do I have the right to change them without his permission? If he changes them he'd probably make copies for him and his friends and it'd still be the same thing.
