i didn't do this last week since i hadnt seen a movie. and in fact have only technically seen one movie in the past two weeks. very upsetting.

the disciple (chaitanya tamhane, 2020):
some no-talent guy who loves old indian classical music tries to become a great artist to help preserve a dying artform since his field is being destroyed by troglodytes. he fails. sounds familiar! good movie. missed it when it came around originally. good music and i enjoyed the long static takes (which apparently a lot of other people did not like according to letterboxd... ), especially of the musical performances. recommended! its on netflix.

The new Ratchet and Clank is really fun. That's the last exclusive I've beat on PS5 that was worth the time at least.

yeah i would love to play more ratchet and clank. always loved the series on ps2 and beat the remake thing. i am however a budget gamer and waiting for rift to be on sale for like 20 bucks tho.

i just don't seen how giant open worlds are fun. its a bunch of nothing. and skill trees i feel like i dont remember being in games. you would just know everything or slowly unlock moves organically rather than needing to level up/grind. imo this is the complete opposite of fun.

smaller open worlds like spiderman or yakuza 0 are fine. or something like tlou2 where its linear but there's a lot of places to look around. probably ideal.

control, god of war, persona 5, bloodbourne, arkham batman games, mad max, earth defense force 4, uncharted 4 and lost legacy, undertale, soma, hollow knight, mass effect trilogy, some star wars port collection, prey, jak and daxter four game series, spryo 3 i aint beat yet, psychonauts og, infamous second son, the last guardian, crash trilogy, hitman 2, fallout 4, the witcher 3, monster hunter world, battlefield 1/2042, metal gear solid 5 (need to beat first four tho), days gone, rayman legends, some cod games... plus whatever is on ps+ extra or w/e its called, the second tier

PS4/5 is the promised land for people who want consoles to have no games.

There is such a striking absence of games that there might actually be a negative quantity of games.

i dunno i've had a lot of fun with those games. plus some stuff i liked but didnt love such as spiderman or jedi fallen order or ratchet or stray or whatever.

i have a pretty massive collection from having ps+ since i got a ps4 towards the end of cycle

i'm mostly just paralyzed by indecision............

for reference games i have enjoyed include
yakuza 0, outer wilds, the last of us 2, titanfall 2, the witness, rocket league

games i have not enjoyed include
rdr2, gta6, skyrim, horizon

basically i'd rather play something less "immersive" with a giant open world, rpg elements, and skill trees and just play something that is to-the-point and trying to be fun

i basically didnt game for the ps3 and ps4 generation so feel free to rec some obvious stuff

also citizen kane is still better crafted than any movie coming out today unless youre spielberg or scorsese level of goated or something
