Conan talks all the time about how he purposefully sabotaged his own show during that time. He'd spin his wedding ring on his desk for long periods of time because he gave the audience the options of watching unentertaining shit like that or pressuring the studios to bring back writers to make quality TV. He also toured at one point and did shows and brought as much if his crew with him as he could. He had an awesome response to these situations.

I feel like Maher will unintentionally do the same thing. He's going to try his very best to make something great "for the audience" but fail. So while his intentions are awful, it's still a win for the writers.

I can see this happening. Don't forget Bill taking credit for ending the strike with this after its over even though he's kind of just making it harder for them.

though from when I used to watch somewhat regularly (though I haven't in years), Bill's comedy segments have always been the worst part of the show, so if he's in charge for more of that, its not gonna be pretty.

I've read that he's still going be involved in WWE's creative direction on some level but won't have full creative control like he used to.

I doubt he's ever going to permanently retire unless his health is bad enough that he's forced to.

Vince has been in this position for a while. He officially "retired" last spring when his sexual misconduct stuff "leaked", but it was like, 2 months before he was back "consulting".

Though IIRC HHH handles most of the creative stuff now, and there's less throwing the whole show out 20 minutes before it starts with less Vince around.
Simon_Gruber posted...
Did Shane, Steph and/or HHH not want it?

My conspiracy theory is that some combination of Steph/HHH/etc... were the ones that "leaked" Vince's sexual misconduct stuff that caused him to "retire", and so Vince is selling the company purely out of spite. A very "If I can't have it, none of you can" kind of thing.

Also possible Vince things the company going public was a bad idea -e.g., they had to significantly tone down the raunchiness that was present during WWE's peak in the late 90s and early 2000s, and making the whole thing a smaller part of a larger whole gives HHH and Stephanie (and whoever else is taking over) more freedom to make "their" WWE.

So If I want to put my tinfoil hat on, I think its a deliberate act that's either incredibly sympathetic, or incredibly spiteful, but nothing in between.

LMAO this is absolutely incorrect. Just recently you had people throwing fits over the mere option of pronouns in Starfield.

The two legged brain foreclosures who whine about this type of stuff are probably too dumb for BG3 is all.

The accurate answer is that outcries about woke stuff only ever happens when something is popular. Whenever it's not the flavour of the month it'll be dropped because it never really mattered to begin with. Starfield had more hype behind it, so its more profitable to complain about, so its more "woke".

Add to that Baldur's Gate didn't really have a huge amount of hype going into it, at least compared to Starfield. There was some hype for sure, but a lot of that came after release when the game was really good. We might circle back to this in a little while when BG3 comes to Xbox Series X/S, since Starfield kind of overshadowed the PS5 release.

I actually played it for the first time basically a month ago.

Overall I thought it was pretty good. Thought that when you finally get to the Institute the whole story kind of starts to fall apart, but eh, it's fine. The gameplay is fun, and its the sort of like, intro-to-rpg level of rpg, but I wanted that so I'd consider that mostly a plus (though there are some things I wish had more of an impact)

Settlement stuff was boring as ****, but aside from like, 1 moment and the Minutemen stuff, its not super tough to just ignore it.

However, it loses huge points because even walking around Boston on my NEXT GEN XBOX SERIES S is basically impossible. I can't get a block around without the entire game crashing, and this should not be acceptable 8 years after the game has come out. On PC it's fine (though there are slowdowns, but it doesn't crash) which makes me think it's somehow just an Xbox issue. This happens without mods, with mods, specifically only with mods specifically intended to make traversing Boston less of a mess, etc...

Anyway, IMO like an 8.5-9/10 game, but because I can barely play it the game crashes down to like a 4/10

I could see the Switch 2 not being 100% backwards compatible. Nintendo inevitably going with another weird gimmick means that some of the games really dependent on the joy-cons might not be very playable (e.g., the Pokemon Let's Go games, Super Mario Party).

But with how much work Nintendo has done to shove like, old WiiU games onto the Switch for a full-priced game, I could easily see Switch 2 not being backwards compatible so Nintendo can sell you BoTW or Super Mario Odyssey again to you for full price. Heck, Nintendo shoved out a touched-up Wii game in Skyward Sword HD as a full priced game last year and got away with it.

Definitely just a result of the BG3 people not paying attention to what the games actually cost here and just going with the lazy option. Or the malicious option. I imagine if the CDN dollar starts going up, that price isn't going to go down, even if the exchange rate is the excuse being used today.

I think if they had actually stuck with it, it would be remembered better. Its a great character change for Skinner and gave a completely different perspective on how he interacts with Bart and his "mother". You don't really need to change anything for his character going forward (besides his name, maybe something not as stupid as Armin Tamzarian) or Agnes, or anyone interacting with him, and he can still stay principal.

But to make such a huge shift in the world of The Simpsons, only to reneg on it by the end of the episode told fans it wasn't really worth trying to get invested in the show anymore. The show normally didn't touch the status quo like that, but when they did it stuck. Milhouse's parents stayed divorced for like 10 years, Apu got married and had children, they mention Homer went to space every now and then. But this one was saying "lol nvm this was stupid anyways".

I think there's only been one episode in the like 25 years since that episode that even mentions Skinners childhood (apparently fetus-Skinner kicks while Agnes is olympic pole vaulting which causes her to lose the medal, and has always bitterly blamed him for it). And honestly, its funnier that Agnes holds so much resentment to Skinner for something that literally wasn't even him.
