The reason they are not on the same day in this day and age is because campaigns can't manage that. Basically this. Each party can afford to have two or three candidates running national campaigns, but not 14. Running staggered primaries allows for the people with no real chance of winning to face facts and drop out early, concentrating funding on the candidates with a legitimate chance of winning. A secondary, less savory consideration is that losing candidates often negotiate with better performing candidates as to when and how to drop out, i.e. agreeing to support the winning candidate in return for a cabinet position. No sitting president has lost his party's nomination in the last 140 years. That doesn't mean it can't happen, but it's really fucking unlikely. Unfortunately I don't see just placing more multifamily units on the market as a solution to end homelessness, because those units are still going to be unaffordable to persons experiencing homelessness. The units will instead be filled by people that actually afford to live in SF.More likely there will be straw renters - one landlord renting another's units so they're "occupied" in return for the other landlord doing the same in return. Say $5 million in gross income; high enough that anyone earning that either has or can afford an accountant and there's few enough getting audited that the IRS has the manpower to do this as well as the normal audits they do.
