Yep, Tifa is one of the few characters who has only lost to Noble Niners 1-on-1.

She could almost say it overall, but she did technically "lose" to Kratos because of Seph's presence in that match.

I don't think anyone can say they've only lost to Noble Niners in every format other than one-off 16 seeds or something.

Yeah Tifa's bracket placement just haven't been the most fun.

Almost no characters fit the 1v1 thing so probably not, especially since 4 ways and 3 ways has jokes and rallies dominating. No Noble Nine character only lost to Noble Nine characters either. Tifa is actually closer to this feat that every NNer except Samus who only has the Draven loss.

I think Zelda has had fortunate enough bracket placement and contest misses to have no 1v1 loss against outside forces. Then she ended up being strong enough that it would never happen even with contests. That's the only one I can think of. Bowser is a match against a Pokemon on HGSS release day away from it.

I began this game a bit late but I really like it. Just playing as Mario offline, I have beaten the first three worlds along with every available level as well.

Climb to the Beat was probably the most fun level so far. I like Mario levels where you do precision jumping in a rush. But also platforming is my gaming specialty so I didn't struggle either.

No I just meant in my ranking. I can see why it was unclear.

Tifa has like that one loss to Sonic in her first contest and if I recall correctly only has bowed out to Sephiroth and Samus.

I at least remember her going from #2 in the x-stats to missing the damn 2007 bracket entirely despite the larger field.

Sandbag is at least enough of a wild card that I wouldn't think that match is the best for judging direct matchups.

There was a lot in the 00s maybe early 10s too.

I never got around to meeting Giggs even though we live(d?) like 15 minutes away from each other.

As someone who watched Seinfeld recently it definitely has aged in many department, though it didn't make me appreciate it less.

Also not sure how much TV matters. At least here Friends has been extremely popular on Netflix and in recent years HBO max. It just moved platform.

It has been my idea in general that Frienda have gotten more international recognition of the two while it's opoosite in the US but I haven't really researched it.

They overlapped some years both but I think the majority of both aired before/after the other ran. It's probably different in the US where they come from, but here Seinfeld has never been all too popular while Friends has never stopped airing in primetime on big channels.

I think Kirby might have actually been boosted by Smash that year and not just the hype or reveals like most do.

Technically the match used to be won by Mario lol, I don't think they met between 02 and 18. But yeah.

The idea would be that the bandwagon died when he was eliminated. Pikachu had a solid contest himself after all.

Also Mewtwo looked decent enough in the other contests. Depending on how people thought Ganondorf vs. Tifa would go on top of a predicted overall Pokemon (and maybe Smash) boost. I see where it gets close.

This is not meant to take anything away from you having been correct, on the contrary it makes it more impressive probably.

Also Mewtwo was pretty good in 2018 all things considered, Tifa was a very strong.

Yeah but that was somewhat explainable by HGSS release on Bowser match and then clear bandwagon.

I mean, Mewtwo was a fraud, you were completely right, but I don't blame people for putting him on Pikachu (who was not a fraud) levels or at least close to when they predicted the 2018 bracket.

I mean it's true obviously, but I don't really blame people for thinking the Mewtwo vs. Pikachu one was legit.

I decided to watch an episode of Friends yesterday and watched The One Where Heckles Dies.

Then final scene of that episode with Chandler got me crying big time and I think that might be a celebrity death first for me.

I guess it depended on what people thought FFVII would be worth in 2018. He did fine on Ganondorf in 2010. I mean, I picked Tifa without thinking twice (but also picked her against Seph later).

But he hadn't really had bad performances before either. I think this Midna match in question is the only one he looks bad in.

I think perhaps the most misleading match he had was confortably beating Pikachu in 2013.

I personally feel like going by chronological order is kind of a bad idea in a project like this but I'm also not one trying to beat everything anyway (because there's a lot of bad sports/arcade games that I'm not going to touch ha ha)

I think doing it entirely wouldn't be great but for some genres it might be nice since it's harder to go the other way if you've just gotten used to something.

Anyway, list is really nice. Thanks for providing it!

The my next batch of NES games to choose from would be:

I tried to see if I could find a list of games there by original release date and not NSO release date, which I couldn't, but I guess something like Donkey Kong Jr would be the oldest remaining, without having looked too carefully.

I did play a bit of Metroid yesterday. I have gotten the Ice Beam.

I considered Lost Levels or Ghost n Goblins next though maybe something less challenging would be good after Graidus lol. This is just getting on with the Mario franchise of which there is a lot of things or picking the oldest remaining of the first 20 games on there.

Maybe knocking out Pro Wrestling or something first. Also depends on what you guys feel like.

Ctes has beaten Gradius

So it finally happened. This was probably the game I struggled the most with so far (although that 1 hour of Baseball where I couldn't hit the ball sucked way more). It should be said the time spent is also because I have had some of my most busy weeks here in October and on top of that was put into a mafia game I had signed up for in early August and then forgot about because it didn't happen.

Overall the experience was pretty decent. It's difficult especially before you understand how to go from different abilities. Game is borderline impossible if you get far without good power ups too, this wasn't very clear in-game to me. For it's time it's pretty impressive obviously with a lot of room to improve. Other than some of the crappy sports games that might as well not count, this was my first new experience in this project.

I beat Super Mario Land 2. It was really good I thought. Now Im playing Super Mario 64 and about 30 stars in. Im at Big Boos Haunt and have yet to do the first Bowser level lol.

I tried getting the through the jet stream star in JRB and I couldnt :( Ive done it before without metal cap but after trying to unsuccessfully for 10 minutes I just said screw it and gave up. Going for 120 stars obviously.

Its not an NSO game obviously but Sunshine will be an interesting one to revisit. I know its reputation is generally less than glowing and I havent played it in about 20 years.

Are you back to just playing Mario games?
