I'm not saying that all SW media should be a carbon copy of Andor, nor am I saying that Andor is some immutable pinnacle of writing (although it is really, really good). But it should serve as a more general standard for SW going forward, in which new shows look at it and say 'hey, maybe putting more emotion, tension, smart dialogue, and clear, consistent motivation into our characters can only be a good thing.'

You don't even need to look exclusively to Andor for inspiration when even something as relatively simple as The Lego Movie has more charm and emotional weight than Ahsoka. Take the MCU for another example; people rip on its movies for being bland cookie-cutter capeshit, but myself and many others got invested in those movies due to a core cast of likeable, memorable, and (mostly) well-written core characters, which produced an attachment that carried viewers through two dozen movies worth of material, some of which was great but most of which was mediocre.

But SW has almost stubbornly refused to learn lessons from contemporary media over the years, outside of outliers like Andor. At this point, simply meeting expectations is not a good thing when the franchise lows outweigh the highs. There's a ton of potential here, but too often you either have good characters stuck in a bad plot (the Sequel Trilogy), or a good plot saddled with bland characters (Ahsoka). SW as a franchise is long past due to set its overall writing standards a little higher.

But you're talking about subjective things as though they're objective measurements. I found Andor to be extremely boring and couldn't make it past 2 episodes. Ahsoka, on the other hand, I LOVED! I enjoyed all the characters and didn't find them bland at all.

In your MCU example, you would be the audience that finds them "bland and cookie cutter," whereas I'm the one who connected and loved them.

Because that's not what the series is about. It's not a political drama or anything like that. It's meant to be for all ages. So wanting a more mature take is fine but shouldn't be what the entire series is now based on. If you aged out of Star Wars, that's cool. But don't ask it to change to accommodate that because the rest of the fan base likes it just the way it is.

Basically, Andor is for people who didn't really like Star Wars to begin with, much like Snyder's Superman was made for people who didn't like the character as is.

Andor shouldn't be the bar set for Star Wars and I highly doubt it is for most fans.

JT has had more staying power. I never hear about Usher anymore. And tbh I don't know that Usher at his peak was every as crazy as the frenzy for NSync.

This is the opposite of reality. Back in the day, JT easier popular easily. However now, Usher is way more relevant. He's still making music and his Las Vegas residency is HUGE. Hell, his whole deal with KeKe Palmer was more newsworthy than anything JT has done (prior to appearing with NSYNC recently.)

Andoe wasn't good because it was for adults though... but because it WASNT like the rest of Star Wars. It was something different. The fans have been asking for something different for years now. But Disney keeps milking the same fan service and Jedi shit. Andor was refreshing compared to all the other shows.

It's really for all ages, actually. A Star Wars series specifically for kids is the Young Jedi Adventures series.

"Star Wars for adults" completely misses the point of Star Wars. It's like it was made for people who aren't actually Star Wars fans to begin with (kinda like Zack Snyder's Superman is made for people who didn't like the character as he's typically portrayed.)

In order of enjoyment:

Mandalorian Season 2
Mandalorian Season 1 = Ahsoka
Obi Wan
Book of Boba Fett
Andor

And since that was after he broke his back, Bruce should've never made it lol

If it were animated then it wouldn't be nearly as big as it is, nor would it have lasted 15+ years.

It's been awhile since I've seen it (it was on Voyager Season 2, iirc.) The old topic probably got purged but did he make a new one? It was interesting and fun to read as he went along.

Yeah. I first noticed this with the show Supernatural. People would complain about filler, not realizing those episodes are the ones that showcase Sam and Dean's unique personalities and helps you care about them.

They must have misinterpreted Andor's slow ass plot movement = good. So the plot barely moved in ep 1-4.

People keep saying this and I realize that's because they really don't understand "plot" or "development." That's why terms like "filler" gets thrown around so often and incorrectly.

The plot did move forward, as did the characters. Ezra and Thrawne are no longer trapped. Shin, Ahsoka and Sabine are in completely different places (figuratively and literally) at the end than they were in the beginning.

Baylan's story is clearly going to continue, which is how television series tend to work. Things carry over from one season to the next.

That sucks and it ended on a cliffhanger smdh

Everyone has Passive Perception, which is determined by your WIS score. You can also get a special eye that can detect invisibility from Volo after he accidentally removed one of your eyes.

well the Avengers did try to kidnap/murder the mutant messiah during AvX and the fact that the Avengers do very little to help the fact that many groups/governments are committing genocide against the mutants. Then there is Wanda, an Avenger, who wiped out most of the mutants with 3 words.

The lack of cooperation has between the avengers and X-Men has been brought up mutiple times now.

And it never makes sense for them to be at odds. The Avengers literally sacrificed their lives fighting Onslaught and left the planet in the care of the X-Men. And, in universe, that would've happened just like 5 years ago or so. But now they play it like they've always been adversarial.

Baylan is also one of (maybe THE) first Star Wars villain who seems to have conflict about who he is. So much of SW is "pure good vs. pure evil" that it's refreshing to see a character struggle with that

Dude, the show is named after a pre-existing character from a cartoon.

There's also the fact the main character is from a cartoon and we knew for months they had cast Rebel characters too. So nobody should be shocked it ties into those two series as much as it does.

The best thing about this show is the Sabine/Shin rivalry. I love watching those two go at it and hope it continues.
