| saspa 09/28/23 2:10:10 AM #28 | So I beat the boss, and the finale was fun, at least the platforming sections. The finale boss went on too long and thank goodness for checkpoints or I would have been livid. If this were a crummy n64/ps1 title (or even gen 6) they would have probably had us start from the very beginning. And Hat girl wouldn't even get a 4 hit counter, probably just 2 and no hearts.
The boss fight really emphasized for me how this was so much like those n64 era collectathon platformers except with quality of life improvements and none of the awful design of that era, like a game from that era perfected. And that's a good thing. It makes me want to play more games like it if that's the design philosophy. I'd rather just know where it is, at the very least which floor/general area. There's no in-game map?

And yeah, it's a fun little comic. Sometimes a bit too mushy and "inspiring" for my tastes, but I keep up to date on it. I still go back and reread #74 Lesson Learned, the one where Damian asks Dick why he was once banned from fighting Poison Ivy for a while when he was Robin. And the reason turned out to be that he poked a flower that swallowed him, it tickled, and then he deliberately poked it a second time after Batman saved him. The Sunshine-esque pure geometry levels are good Oh so it's that obvious huh, they reminded everyone else of Super Mario Sunshine too? I actually think a lot of this game is reminding me of sunshine. | saspa 09/12/23 10:37:12 AM #1 | Finally started Hat in Time and... yeah, I'm instantly charmed by it. I initially balked at the $30 price point when it looked like one of those steam humble indie bundle games that are $5, and when I did get it on sale I was apprehensive about starting it.
But within the first hour I started really getting into exploring the first world, mafia town. The voice acting and characters are so silly it's great. The platforming is... fine so far. but I'm having a lot of fun. Putting it on a burger is not as big a travesty as mayo, and I'd still eat it if I absolutely have to, but it's the topping that least fits on a burger compared to lettuce-pickle-onion staple.

Although out of that list the only thing that's probably healthy that I admit I'll never eat again is brussel sprouts. You can roast them or claim that they've been genetically engineered to taste better, there's simply no way that particular food will ever taste anything other than dirt butt. Oh and tofu. Sam Rockwell was great too, I liked how they subtly threw in that he was having a gay relationship with theon greyjoy and he didn't really believe this crap, to the point where not only does he help both jojo and elsa against the gestapo, but ensures that jojo goes free after they're all captured by russian communists and about to be literally shot to death. | saspa 09/07/23 1:08:32 PM #1 | It's supposed to be a comedy, but when he stumbles on his mother (scarjo) hanged so suddenly like that, that scene almost broke me it was so unexpected (yet expected) and heart-wrenching.
Still, it was a great and imo fresh way to present the ww2 and nazi setting in a movie, through the eyes of a fanatic 10 year old hitler youth kid who begins to doubt the bizarre propaganda after discovering a jewish girl in his house that his mother was hiding. Unfortunately, the show's title is misleading and makes it sound like a show its not. This right here is what really bothers me. It's like izombie, the title does not do the show any favors whatsoever and it's a damn shame. Before when people would talk about crazy ex gf I kept imagining this crappy uma thurman movie so ignored it for years, until one day I saw it on netflix and decided to play it in the background on a whim. I had no idea I was in for a clever, witty show that could get surprisingly "real" about mental health issues, completely acknowledging some of the antics the character does as borderline, stuff that's usually passed on because "haha romantic comedy" type tropes. And I really enjoyed the songs, as someone who's not really into music. Especially those rare times when I recognized what they were parodying, like the lala land drugs song. Doing a hilarious accent... could it even be called an accent? It's like British and American at the same time.
After 21 jump streets I liked Channing Tatum and think he was a good actor there but he's playing a real dull character here. I can look past the movie showing these two unlucky and relatively stupid hicks devise and pull off a near impossible plan to try to fit into the movie's title. I would take a closer look at the ending and the talk about the Logan Curse. There is more meaning in the ending than you think I didn't even realize Mellie was supposed to be his sister, not his girlfriend. It was only at the end of the movie when I noticed and was shocked by this. It definitely makes sense now why he'd pursue the whole Katherine Waterson mobile doctor. Who by the way would surely question the ethics of accepting what is clearly dirty stolen money as a donation even if it does help her charity work.
