F5 is the start of endgame in Big Brother and making it that far isn't anything to scoff at, especially for someone like Cirie who isn't very good at comps. Her being screwed this time is because of BB's format relying so much on comp strength.
Cirie wins against anyone in F2, given her likability and how unlikely she was to make it there. Might as well get rid of her now and keep mega-goat Bowie Jane (I repeat: her nominees in the Double were SO BAD) and wild card Felicia instead, since neither of them is winning against Matt or Jag. That said, the vote could flip since Felicia has won a couple comps, so if she won F4 Veto, she could blow the game up. After struggling to clear the bridge a bit - I found subbing Fang for Vanille made things even worse - I finally got to the Primarch's chamber. And there, the twist revealed itself: The Primarch is, in fact, the Fallacy Barthandelus (this did NOT occur to me), and he sees humans as discardable tools. He immediately proves this by... seemingly killing everyone in the room, including Nabaat, and laughs maniacally. It's all a game of give-and-take for his Fallacy brethren. Or at least for him. Monster. We beat the shit out of him and this fight, though it goes for a while, isn't very challenging. It's just annoying since Light INSISTS on standing right next to Sazh when casting Cure, thus meaning they both take damage whenever the monster casts Watera. After this, the bad guy reveals several things, including the obvious that Serah's Focus was to assemble Snow, Light, and Vanille in front of a Pulse Fallacy, in order to bring about the tools for the destruction of Cocoon. Loverboy refuses to believe this but he's an idiot, so I can't blame him. This was obvious to me the entire time. The gang's Focus is to cut off Orphan from Eden or some shit that isn't very comprehensible, thus cutting off Cocoon's supplier and bringing about its destruction. In order to do this, one of them must become Ragnarok. I have a feeling I won't be getting to choose who that is. I'm willing to bet it's Light, but of course the party will find some way out of it. The plot dump was a bit much since there were terms that were thrown out of nowhere, which serves as a distraction. I also don't know if Nabaat is dead. Rosch sure isn't, since he attacks us after we escape in that mechanical owl, which abruptly transformed into an airship. An aerial chase ensued and he seems to have survived again but I really don't know how he's alive in the first place. The game wasn't particularly good at explaining that. And Nabaat may show up again even though she was supposed to have just died (barring that monster using Portal magics), which would certainly make her a more memorable antagonist. As cool as discarding a monster like that can be, this wasn't done particularly well; it simply makes Nabaat a forgettable opponent. So yeah, I have a lot of questions, some on account of the game not having very good writing. I also gotta say now that the whole gang's together we're not getting the interactions we had before, which is unfortunate. | BlueCrystalTear 10/27/23 5:57:31 PM #52 | Played some more. The gang's all here! I can finally choose my own party, and I'll be giving Light, Sazh, and Fang a try first. Hope got himself killed a little too often for my liking. So I think this balances things well - especially given how Light and Fang are in sync.
Other scenes included the villains debating what color of alert they were going to do next (I think some of the humor was lost on me) in their frustration and some DARGON slaying during the reunion. The first two were weak bosses. Vanille and Fang strangled and stabbed the third pretty awesomely. And then another one became our ride into the villain's lair. Tomorrow, the Primarch dies. Or at least gets purged to Pulse, where he'll be executed swiftly. He'll get to see that it's not a hellscape at all, but that the people think of him as the monster he really is. Also hoping Nabaat has a satisfying comeuppance. Not sure who that mechanical owl belonged to, but I'm leaning towards Raines. He wants the power for himself. We started leaving the Lindblum to infiltrate the Palamecia - PSICOM's flagship. No talk of explosive charges or anything that would make for an ideal diversion, however. There's not really much interaction going on here which is unfortunate. But for whatever reason - probably their l'Cie sensors - we go from landing via Raines having forged a valid code to being attacked in a CODE RED situation. This escalates to a CODE GREEN later once we've breached the interior, and to a CODE PURPLE when... So Sazh is alive. He didn't have the strength to fire a bullet into his skull, only out into the great unknown. He doesn't have a reason to live or fight anymore, so why can't he do it? Fear, perhaps? After this, Nabaat and its troops apprehend Sazh and Vanille, with Nabaat making some cold, hypocritical statements - there's no explanation for Vanille's robe or Sazh's casket seen at the end of Chapter 8, though. Sazh certainly didn't feel alive, but he still was. Back in the cell, he starts processing that since Vanille woke up from crystal stasis, Dajh can one day, too. Vanille comes fully clean: On Day 1 of the precursor 13 days, she and Fang woke up from their slumber... completely naked until their clothes just magically generated, mind you. Fang's l'Cie brand was faded and she had no memory of anything to do with it, including her Focus... so Vanille just played along. She actually remembered the Focus, but wanted to be free from it. She felt guilt for all the damage she'd caused people and just wanted to live instead of worrying about the perils of becoming a l'Cie. And because of that, we're all in this mess. Great, just great. She doesn't divulge what her Focus is - at least, not yet. We'll get there when we get there. While the others are causing chaos, the CODE GREEN blares even in the cell, and some thugs and a monster come in to say "You're being moved." Sazh doesn't agree to this. In fact, he commands CHOCOBO to use PECK! The goon is caught off-guard and it's a critical hit. Sazh takes him down, then knocks over the other guy, while Vanille picks up the first thug's assault rifle and unloads the clip into the monster. It's AWESOME. They take their rifles and infiltrate the hallway, locating where PSICOM was keeping their gear, because they probably think for some asinine reason if anyone picks it up they'll just become a Pulse l'Cie. They seem to believe gobbledygook like that. On the way forward, Vanille says about Fang: "For once in my life, I am going to save her." Whatever that means. Fang has been holding her own pretty well - in fact, her and Light are communicating really well and I've gotten them to be good at taking turns beating up some staggered enemy midair, whether that's terrorist scum or their robots. At any rate, the CODE PURPLE was for the escaped prisoners, which Fang immediately realizes means Vanille. I stopped in this big circular room that looks like some giant monster was kept in the center of it, though I cleared out a bunch of monsters before returning to the save point. I played like three hours tonight and there wasn't much in the way of plot advancement. This Palamecia place is humongous! Sooner or later the party will finally reunite in its entirety, and I'll actually get to choose who to use. Still not sure yet. May have to try various combinations to see what works for me. --- Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered! This is why those two have chosen the targets they have. AFAIK (feeds spoilers) If Cirie somehow wins a challenge, the Internets will implode. | BlueCrystalTear 10/26/23 12:42:12 PM #395 | I didn't go back to Amazing Race after episode 2. It's an extended version of the same boring thing we already had. I was hoping for more culture and actually interacting with locals, but it's just teams completing banal tasks. That's why I stopped watching before, so the extra time hurts more than helps.
Survivor last night was the first episode this season that I didn't enjoy with the extra time. It felt like it regressed to what made 41 not work, with the journeys and flashbacks. I was really into this season despite Sean quitting, but this one felt too contrived. This early merge isn't going to help. As fly Big Brother, I do think that Matt, Cirie, and Jag are the only possible winners left. I was thinking America also a week ago, but Cory being evicted didn't make her come alive the way I had hoped. Was really hoping for a revenge campaign instead of a defeatist. Felicia, Bowie, and Blue have no shot except against each other and I don't see any such pair happening except maybe Felicia and Bowie, under a very specific set of miracles. Everyone needs Jag out in this double. Including Matt. Also: If anyone here watches Shark Tank, a friend of mine is actually going to be on it tomorrow, believe it or not! --- Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered!
