So for the fentanyl that is seized a majority typically comes through legal ports of entry. So some of it must be getting through these heavily trafficked areas. That still is important to know when Republicans say that open borders and illegal immigrants are bringing the fentanyl when we know the majority of immigrants just are not doing that.

Of course we know that a majority aren't. Just like we know a majority aren't crossing the border to cause chaos, and are just looking for a better life.

That doesn't mean we should just sit back and let it happen. We really should be moving towards a better vetting process and streamlining legal immigration/paths to citizenship.

I probably play so infrequent that shit like NBA Jam and Tecmo Bowl may still be in my Top30

And that's really the issue.

No one wants to get down to the real root cause of all of this. The fact that we are not even coming close to the monetary investment we need to solve the immigration issue.

Gen X are just observers. Any attempt to blame them or Millennials will backfire. Boomers are far from dying and the Joneser sub-groups are only just retiring now. Boomers are going out of their way to deny agency to the younger generations.

Boomers are 1946-1964, making the oldest Boomers 77 and the youngest around 60.

We're about a decade away from them all being dead or retired. By then, any wealth and property they have will be passed on to their GenX and Millennial children.

And, naturally, the "haves" always get all the blame from the "have nots".

Gen Z is kinda drastically different than the last two though so it's just getting more attention.

Only difference is, where Millennials blamed Boomers for creating the problems, GenZ Jr. will blame Millennials for not doing enough to fix the mess that the generations before them created.

Kinda like what GenZ is doing with GenX. Boomers are dying off, so there's not enough of them to blame, so the shift now is to blaming the 45-55 year old GenXers for being complacent when Boomers were creating all the problems.

Oh, definitely.

I wouldn't have had a reservation about letting either of my kids read that when they were in 8th grade (they're in 10th and 12th now). We did our best to not shield them too much from most things, while still being able to explain to them that there is a time and place for certain topics.

But I would have no problem with my 8th grade daughter reading it, because I am not an out-of-touch conservative prude.

Everyone has different levels of what they expose their children to, or how they expose it to them, so I see no issue with at least letting the children and parents know beforehand that it's in the lesson plan.

For example, in my school district, if there's something that could be deemed controversial or "triggering", we get a letter home before the lesson starts letting parents know what will be read, and that the text is available for them to review.

I know for a fact that's what happened when my son had to read "Of Mice and Men" in 8th grade. and the same with the Diary of Anne Frank, because they had the children read the "uncensored" version.

It's probably too much to spring on some kids that age without warning, or without notifying parents ahead of time so they can review the text.

I think the issue is more the fact that this new construction is at the expense of many environmental can conservation acts getting completely ignored, which isn't a good look from the "Green New Deal" party.

Did you guys know this, just read that the majority of illegal immigrants that get into the u.s. are people that overstay their visas, they are not people who cross the border illegally and has been that way for over a decade. But possibly most americans think differently.

Oh. The article I read made mention that the Koopa's original names were Nokonoko, but I guess the article could've been wrong.

In fact, their original name was Nokonoko. That name is based on the same Japanese word, which can be used to refer to someone or something that walks slowly and without purpose. I suspect ambling would probably be the closest English term, but anyone with more experience with both languages may be able to offer a better alternative.
So why didnt the Super Mario team just keep the name Nokonoko when translating the game for international audiences? Well, there doesnt seem to be any official information available regarding the thought process at that time, though its easy enough to make some educated guesses.

But there is amazingly still no real explanation as far as where the name Bowser came from.

His name was always Bowser.

Bought my nephew some vinyl for his birthday.

I think it's more because they're not force fed the same 50 movies and TV shows that we all were when we grew up, along with the fact that parents throw an iPad and headphones at their kids as early as possible, so they're not consuming the same media their parents are.

I really didn't have my own musical taste till I was 12 or 13, becasue whenever the radio was on, either in the house or in the car, we would listen to whatever my dad wanted to listen to, so I grew up only knowing 60's and 70's Soul and Motown music. It wasn't until my mom got her driver's license (she got it later in life) that we started listening to more modern pop music while in the car.

Although one thing I've noticed that has carried over is Disney movies. My cousin, who is now 34, my daughter (17), and my cousin's daughter (3), can all sit and watch Beauty and the Beast and know every line.

From what I recall, it was a lot of pattern recognition.

In retrospect, it may not have been an actual IQ test, but more to see if I was "advanced" or "gifted" as I had a tendency to pick up on things a lot faster than the kids that I went to nursery school and preK (or so I was told).

This can be a frustrating topic sometimes, due to the amount of sheer ignorance and deeply ingrained misconceptions surrounding trans people. Empathy is frequently in short supply.

The part that frustrates me that someone will read an article about a trans person dominating a HS sport in bumfuck Pennsylvania and say "SEE! This is happening everywhere and taking opportunities from 'real' girls!" and completely ignore the dozens and dozens of mediocre trans athletes.

Unfortunately I was like 5 or 6 so I dont remember a lot of the details. I just remember a lot of visual brain teaser type things and puzzles. And I remember the conversation where they wanted me to jump from 1st grade to 3rd grade and I cried because I didnt want to leave my friends and be way younger than everyone else (9 year olds feel like giant adults when youre 6), so my mom decided to let me stay in 1st grade so I can have normal social development.

I took a similar test around the same age. I don't remember a lot, I just remember it was before I started kindergarten. I had learned how to read at a very young age and they thought I was "gifted" and wanted me to skip kindergarten. I also starting crying and refused to because it would've put me in the same grade as my sister and I didn't want to be in the same grade as her.
