Outside of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Vietnam, and Iraq... Hell, most younger people I know barely know about those. We're very much at a point where people don't care about the past, and just want to run forward screaming and foaming at the mouth.

History is being pushed aside more and more in schools, STEM is becoming the only thing that really matters and everything else is just" Inferior", tech and the jocks for the glory, turning everyone more and more to those who don't even bother thinking anymore, its getting rather depressing that many kids just assume the computer gives them all the answers to all they care about is looks now, maybe with strength and programming as well.

Right wing nationalism will keep popping up until multiple right wing governments become enemies and start World War 3. Assuming it doesn't go nuclear, the survivors will remember why nationalism and fascism f***ing suck and climb out of the ashes.

But everyone seems to have forgotten the horrors of WW2 already...so many that did not directly live through WW2 seem to be keen on just seeing history as" Not my problem."

As a history major, its become very bitter but painfully clear that most pepole don't care about history...only about getting as much as they can and will only stop when they realize they don't have the means to stop someone from punishing them if they go through with something.

Regretfully, any idea of humanity being govern well, by ideals more or less should be given up and admit that we are a race that will only do something if we get paid for it or because someone stronger leaves us no choice but to sumit, virute and morals are starting to become nothing but a joke, even more then the" hidden joke" they were and a outright joke.

Its rather horrifying how just about everywhere is getting more prone to fascist supporters, everyone just is tired of compromise around the world and just wants to stop having to " share" it is rather horrifying that the world is just about to descend into anarchy till " all the problems go away."

It really makes it seem like democracy can only really work when times are good because as soon as times are hard and pepole have to in fact give up something principles just go out the window.

The thing with HIMYF that I think is unfair towards it is historically most great sitcoms have a very slow/uneven first season.

Friends, HIMYM, Seinfeld, IASIP off the top of my head all had rather weak first seasons and yet they eventually find their groove after that

And that's when shows were getting 24 episode seasons

Now you'll get sitcoms with 10 episode premiere seasons and they get canned because streaming services won't stick with them.

Like imagine if something like Parks and Rec or The Office aired today. They'd have never made it past the first couple episodes.

Seriously, the demands of the streaming networks make it so that the majority of the shows are doomed to fail, this setup is on the verge of just destroying the majority of TV really.

Many are demanding that it has to be perfect from the first second, or the first page for books and its really ruining everything because even the legends would not hold up to this kind of demands today.

Also bummer Ted never showed up on the show.

Super's clearly just made Goku get worst. In the movie even though Freiza sent Broly on them AND killed his father, Goku just lets him get away , and that gets Frezia to have become superior to him in his Black form but even though the universe is now directly suffering because of Frezia Goku does not care at all.

Further more even after Moro caused Merus to die Goku still would rather give Moro another chance AND Granola more or less dies because of him and he's all but forgotten about.

The worst part is that everyone just does not bring it up because admitting Goku is a horrible person is something the story can't outright say.

Funny enough, as bad as the fights were in GT its now a bit more favorable because Goku was how most wanted him to act in that one, even with the body of a child he mostly acted like a reasonable adult.

A big problem is that its about confronting a lot of ugly truths. Hitler was inspired by America in some ways for its racism, even Germany found that the level of prejudice America had for African Americans and everyone not white had surpassed Europe in its hate.

Trump and everything about it is that a massive chunk of the country values White superiorty over everything else and is willing to burn everything else to the ground as long as the White man is on top.

The fate of the nation revolves around figuring out how to resolve that in a way that won't just" sweep it all under the carpet" like with the Civil War.

I can understand why they rebooted because 4 was kind of out there, but I'm lost as to why they felt compelled to reboot it as an entirely different thing.

At this point its clear that at least a good chunk of the new owners thought that Saints Row as it was was to offensive to " fit in today's era" and they wanted Overwatch/ Fortnite, so they just thought they turn Saints Row into that, and they destroyed themselves in the process...or at least Deep Silver forced there" slave company" to destroy themselves...ugh.

I think we do nothing about stochastic terrorism, and often just as little about verified threats. No one is arguing for letting them say whatever without consequence. I think consequences, both social or legal if need be...are a good thing for rhetoric.

Its not quite the same, but I worked in the schools for a while and seen how because teachers can no longer really fail, or even punish most students unless they do something REALLY drastic students have caught on that they more or less can do mostly whatever they want.

With Chat GPT and everything else more and more teachers have become more and more demoralized as teachers feel more like baby sitters now, at least from where I seen.

The point is, when there is no consequences, pepole stop respecting what they suppose to and keep pushing till they don't respect more and more.

Because so many have only cared about short term profit or whatever, facists have been enabled more and more and the country is on the brink of ruin. Fiuring out how to resolve that without having the nation fracture into a failed state like Bosnia, Iraq and others is like, the most important part to figure out.

I'm not asking out of pity for them, I'm asking because figuring out what to do with these pepole is the only way for America to not become like Bosnia , Iraq and all the other places that broken apart to groups that never stop hating and fighting each other because just about all of those countries are just about miserable places at the moment. Ireland is the only place I can think of that mostly got out of the hole that never ending civil war got them, and Brexit might have undone all of that depending on how things go from here, ugh.

It's great that the war ended and is an accomplishment. But let's not forgot how it was handled. The quick withdrawal, left many of the Afghani citizens to rot under Taliban rule and never looked back. It's was really a slap in the face to those allied with the US from there. I am happy that there were plenty of Americans that did host refugees when they fled the country (includes the area I leave at too).

I'll also won't forget to mention that Trump did make leaving that area extremely difficult. By releasing 5000 Taliban soldiers/leaders prior to ending the war and how that was all transferred to the Biden Administration without much support.

Yah, maybe no president could have ended that well but Afganstan ending as bad as when we got there made the whole thing become a bitter disaster.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/justice-barrett-says-scrutiny-welcomed-and-she-s-developed-a-thick-skin/

Almost sounds a tad to defensive there eh puppet?

For the lazy the gist of it is,
Justice Amy Coney Barrett said Monday that public scrutiny of the Supreme Court is hardly new and should be welcomed, and that she has developed a thick skin about criticism of her role as one of the newest justices.

With everything, there can be good and bad, Barrett said at a conference of judges and lawyers. With the court being in the news, to the extent that it engages people with the work of the court, and paying attention to the court and knowing what the courts do and what the Constitution has to say, thats a positive development.

The downside, she said, comes if there is a misperception about the courts work or if there is the sense that it has let people down.

Justices and all judges are public figures, and public criticism kind of comes with the job, she said, noting that just a few years ago she was a law professor at the University of Notre Dame, far from the public eye. But Ive been at it for a couple of years now and Ive acquired a thick skin, and I think thats what public figures have to do; I think thats what all judges have to do.

Barrett, 51, was President Donald Trumps third successful nominee to the high court, confirmed in the fall of 2020. Her appointment solidified a six-justice conservative majority that has quickly moved the court to the right, highlighted by the decision last year to overturn the guarantee of abortion rights the court established 50 years earlier in Roe v. Wade.
Barrett was addressing the Seventh Circuit Judicial Conference.

She was gently interviewed by Diane S. Sykes, chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in Chicago and a former colleague. Sykes was also on Trumps list of candidates for the Supreme Court.

Sykes did not ask about the courts recent decisions or about ethics controversies that have dogged the justices.
Criticism mostly concerns expensive trips taken years ago by Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr., underwritten by wealthy business executives and not disclosed in required annual financial reports. The two justices have said they did not believe they needed to disclose the travel. But Senate Democrats have backed legislation to impose disclosure rules on the court as strict as those that apply to members of the House and Senate.

Whether Congress has the authority to impose a specific code of ethics on the Supreme Court has divided Democrats and Republicans, constitutional experts and the justices themselves. Some have been more forthcoming than others.
Alito earlier this summer was emphatic in an interview with a lawyer and editorial writer in the Wall Street Journal about Congresss role. I know this is a controversial view, but Im willing to say it, Alito said. No provision in the Constitution gives them the authority to regulate the Supreme Court period.

Asked whether other justices agree, Alito replied: I dont know that any of my colleagues have spoken about it publicly, so I dont think I should say. But I think it is something we have all thought about.
Justice Elena Kagan wasnt nearly as definitive when asked at a conference for the 9th Circuit in Portland, Ore. It just cant be that the court is the only institution that is somehow not subject to any checks and balances from anybody else, she said, adding, I mean, we are not imperial.

But she said it would be better if the court handled the ethics issue on its own.
Barrett was not asked her opinion, but she resisted the notion that the court has become acrimonious.

She said a longtime family friend visiting her chambers recently asked her, Do you hate each other?
I actually get asked that question a lot, she continued. She said there are warm relations on the court, despite the high-profile dissents and disagreements.

Someone described to me once the relationships of justices on the court being like a marriage in which theres no possibility of divorce, she said. The justices dont pick each other, but they have to learn to live with each other, she said.
When she was chosen after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the courts term had already started. Her new colleagues bestowed kindness after kindness to help her, Barrett said.

Justice Neil M. Gorsuch sent his staff to help until her own clerks were on board. And she said Justice Sonia Sotomayor sent Barretts husband, Jesse, back to South Bend, Ind., with Halloween candy chosen for each of her children.

Not responding to face book posts does little when others still mock or stay away from you because of it.

As someone who HAS worked as a sub teacher for years, it is the kids with powerful parents, who outright brag that," My mom's a lawyer and my dad's a cop I can do whatever I want that are the worst because its direct abuse of power to teacher and student alike.

A lot of them all but act like Jeffery from Game of Thrones, and think that many are just" inferior".

Its that parents encourage this mindset, and that teachers and the other students are just stepping stones for the" Elite families" that makes it worst.

While pay has risen a bit, the gist of it is that everything is just to expensive for most jobs and college degrees are not nearly as worthwhile as they were in the Boomer age.

More or less, society is quickly becoming one where the middle class is a pipe dream...and yah its a no duh thing for a while but this is a way that just sums it up really. Also covers how guys like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs may have been smart but they had the " ideal timing" for when random smart guys could strike it rich.

Also Baby Boomers more or less screwed everyone else to make it so that they got everything and everyone after them got screwed.

If nothing is done its going to be hard to see how society does not collapse.
