Correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty sure anime and manga always stereotype different groups of people in the same ways. When depicting someone from Hokkaido they're usually depicted with slant eyes, brown skin, and as a fisherman if the setting of the story permits it. So Brock was designed to depict a person from that region of Japan.

Not incorrect, really, but to also add and simplify: It's a character trait of tricksters, or of characters who are typically the wise/knowledgeable/down-to-earth types.
And Brock was definitely the exposition guy of the bunch.

Back then I thought he was the stand-in for the player of Pokmon Snap (due to his photography hobby).

I always wondered why they took Brock out only to put in Tracey who had no fans.

It means exactly what it means...whatever income that person earns, the majority of it goes towards living expenses of some kind (with rent/mortgage eating up the most), leaving very little left over to save for other things.

Hence why something like a sudden expense like hospitalization can easily put such person in the hole.

I also love how dumb the enemies can be and how you can just run into another section and escape them. When I first started I got caught climbing into the back of a truck and then just hit behind the crate that was in it and the guy who was looking dead at me suddenly got amnesia and walked away. It's an old game obviously so I can't be mad at it. Plus it's beneficial.

Huh, weird. I recall enemies usually start throwing grenades if you hide in places they can't (don't have animations) to get to you, like in the truck.
