It would have been just another "Easter Egg", but Hoshi Sato being her "Great Grand Mother" would've been largely inconsequential in terms of storyline value, so I can see why they never mentioned it. Nobody would care in universe, the only people who would care are Trek fans outside of the shows in universe lore.

Tangentially, learning that the second half of S1 Disco takes place in the Mirror Universe is what finally got me to start watching it. I love ST MU shit.

It's great as long as you don't abuse it and go to it too often.

Im fine. Ive been so swamped with work and my kid that I barely have time for anything else. Including dealing with my marriage. Though we hope to start therapy soon. I dont know where some of these rumors come from. My husband has never cared that I post here or compared it to what hes done. I did go out to get drinks while on work trips but only one guy asked for my number. This was like 4-5 years ago maybe? I told my husband all of it and he thought it was funny so I dont know why that one poster keeps dredging it up and twisting it to make it more than it was. We arent against all flirting with the opposite sex. Its the lying and hiding that I take issue with. Ive never hid from my husband that I post here or anything else. Ive never cheated on him or spoke to someone romantically behind his back.

Seven of Nine spent most of her formative years as a Drone.

Hugh spent who knows how long as a Drone before he gained free will and started learning to be normal.

Picard spents days or weeks at most being a Drone, so he didn't have nearly as much time to live under it's influence, which is probably very scary to anybody who values "free will" and spent most of their life with it.

Advanced programmable Custom Force Feedback is a new thing.

It also takes ALOT of custom parts to make it work.

Most of the expense isn't the touchpad.

It's that Advanced custom force feed back in the triggers that costs Sony so much money for the DS5.

Eh, it was a good piece of hardware but I'm not a fan of symmetrical control sticks. Same reason I don't care for Sony's controllers. For the vast majority of use cases, the staggered sticks just feel better to play. >_>

For me, Symmetrical sticks feel better, doesn't matter if it's higher up or lower down.

The advantage of higher up Analog Sticks is that there's no chance of thumbs colliding.

Writing is slow as hell unless it's for math. Just give them wireless keyboards.

Writing by hand is also good for helping people learn / memorize information.

Teachers have something called Goguardian to monitor what kids are doing on their chromebooks during class.

Another expensive technical solution created to solve a problem created by the introduction of Chrome Books.

There needs to be something between a total ban on tech, and students failing to learn because they are using smart devices inappropriately.

Turn Off the Smart Devices, CONFISCATE EVERY single Smart Device that a student may bring into the class-room.

Go old school: paper, pencil, spiral notebook for note taking.

Focus on what the teacher is teaching and writing notes.

It's worked before, it'll work again.

Ban Tech for students to control / have arbitrary access too.
Teachers can have it.
Limited Computer Labs like the 1990's.
But tech shouldn't be allowed to be so prevalent in the hands of students.

That article is not supporting your argument. From the article, the absolute best conclusion we can draw about how technology is affecting students is "depends entirely on the context"

From the results I saw, the only effective thing I saw was "in the hands of the teacher".
The students shouldn't be given control of tech, EVER.

They will find a way to distract themselves and not focus on the topic at hand.

Students need to be prepared for life after school. Not subjected to this 'back in my day' nonsense. What next? Corporal punishment and after school jobs involving heavy machinery? Hey, most kids survived those too.

Not to mention you would be fighting a battle that has already been lost. Humankind needs to learn how to cope with technology, not pretend it doesn't exist.

Doesn't mean you hand over the class-room to Smart Devices and let those devices run the class room.

There's a limit to what you need inside the classroom.
