Like it's almost too weird to be a coincidence that every single popular opinion I hate. Also there should be a distinct line between "this is my favorite Pokemon" and "this is my favorite Pokemon to use just because it's competitively viable or makes the game easier." Like you're allowed to like Pokemon that are bad. I get there are some Pokemon I wasn't crazy about until I used them, like Ferrothorn and Shiftry (he ALWAYS seems to come up in Nuzlocke randomizers I try, which is funny cause Nuzleaf). But I wasn't particularly repelled by either of their designs before liking them gameplay-wise -- gameplay just made me like them more. |

The Flareon hatred though -- I get it's not good competitively, but it's perfectly serviceable in a regular playthrough. Its attack is so high, and Bite / Fire Fang / Dig is perfectly fine -- Flare Blitz and Trailblaze are even better. I use it on every play through of every Pokemon game it's in - same with Machop - and it never disappoints me. |

It suffers from the same thing as Sobble's final form - where it's weirdly skinny and goofy. On that same note - I think Fennekin is super underrated design-wise. It's a cool concept and I like witches. It also kind of reminds me of the Flamies from the Labyrinth. Glad you agree on the others, though. Chikorita is cool in literally all three forms. So many people talk about "fixing" the second or third form - but I think they're all perfectly fine, and it's one of the only starters that I honestly like in all three stages. I don't care about its gameplay viability. I just play it like a much worse Venusaur. |

Friendster, Myspace, etc. were all huge. Stuff like Neopets was huge. There were hundreds of active forums -- now there are only a handful that you can refresh every few minutes and have a whole new page. Stuff like /b/ and anonib were huge culturally. There were tons of niche MMOs and online games. There was AIM, MSN, ICQ, etc. Sure people are more connected online now and have basically a laptop at their side at all hours in the form of a cellphone -- but most of the content is either short form, focuses on people within your locality, or revolves around some form of self aggrandizement. There aren't the same sort of online communities outside of like Reddit -- or people on the outside looking in at stuff like Youtuber communities. Gen X had to actively seek out counter culture. If you were into punk or hardcore or metal you had to know people, read up on zines, subscribe to mail distributions, or actively go to shows and buy albums. There was lots of bullying, people actively being called "posers," and group divisions. For Millennials there was less effort needed due to file sharing services and the ease of online forums, and stuff like last.fm and Myspace Music. It was easy to get into a niche subgenre or subculture. I remember building up my music library through Soulseek and taking pride in how large it was. There were online "taste-makers," and certain things were deemed to be cool or uncool. There was still the idea of guilty pleasures, and people still competed to be cooler than the other person - but there wasn't the same bullying that Gen X had. Now it feels like Gen Z doesn't have the concept of guilty pleasures. They've kind of accepted that you like what you like and it's nothing to be ashamed of. There isn't the same sort of bullying or trying to one-up each other as there was with the other two generations. But on that same token it feels like people are less committed to a single subculture -- and kind of brush the surface of many all at once. I had my recent fwb tell me dumb shit like I was "genre-locked" with music or video games - just because I know a lot/care a lot about one or two particular subgenres. I hear the same kind of stuff from my gen x coworker's kids that are <23 years old. |

Burger King is so underrated for what it is. It's no Popeye's or Taco Bell -- but I'd definitely put it above most national chains. The original chicken sandwich is good with light mayo. The spicy chicken sandwich isn't bad. Chicken fries are great. Their fries are definitely better than McDonald's and Wendy's, even if they're pretty mid. Rodeo Cheeseburgers are one of the best value fast food items outside of Cheesy Bean and Rice Burritos and JBCs. Their breakfast is the second best fast food breakfast after Tim Horton's. Croissanwiches are great and they're affordable. Whoppers are great. They're honestly like the best fast food burger. Jr. Whoppers are a great value. |

I've seen many movies people claim to be good horror movies, but every single one of them fell flat for me. No movie has ever made me scared/anxious/suspenseful/etc. They're way too predictable and telegraphed. The goal isn't necessarily to make you scared. Look at horror as what it is - another type of setting like fantasy or sci-fi. It's a setting that allows for more creativity than any other genre, too. If you're treating horror as a genre like its only goal is to make you jump then that's a skill issue. There are plenty of films that are unsettling and fall under the horror umbrella that are absolute cinematic masterpieces that have more to say than 90% of dramas. I suggest watching something like Possession (1981), The Reflecting Skin (1991), or Repulsion (1965). People probably just gave you dumb recommendations. Tbh stuff like Carpenter and Romero films aren't as "high art" as the films I just mentioned, and aren't as fun as something like Fulci films -- they're just kinda meh in the middle stuff that's way overhyped. |
