A large number of Puerto Ricans have a very low opinion of the US. Between things like military testing on Vieques for decades, the Jones Act, wealthy Americans buying up land as many Puerto Ricans are struggling to make a living and forced to sell, and Trump making an ass of himself after Maria hit, the topic of statehood pretty much always leads to an argument. It doesn't help that America has never given a fuck about Puerto Rico.

I'd think then becoming a state would give them the power and voice needed to pushback on some of those

But really, I don't really have any tips. Mine is 2 in February and all I really remember is trying to make sure if she falls, she doesn't hit her head in a bad way.

Yeah, there's a lot of bad involvement with politicians, lobbies, and laws. I'll agree with that. I don't think it's a unique American thing though.

Like, it's true, but what is the argument. We all know it doesn't justify what Osama did. And yes the US political system can be better in regards to some aspects of lobbying.

Did you just play Final Fantasy or something? People will never understand unless you've lived it yourself. I'm an American citizen living in PR. There are many positives to this and also negatives. But you can see first hand the negatives of living under a colony and how we have no control on some of the biggest issues affecting the island. And its good that the typical American be made aware of what your tax dollars contribute to so you can elect better leaders (oh I also cant vote for president, but can do so for primaries...wtf came up with that)

I dont hate the US. My beef is with the government and politicians.

There ARE REASONS for this though. Younger generations are getting so screwed with jobs, cars, houses. The economy is not allowing them to grow up, cause fuck responsibilities, starting a family when the cards are so stacked against you.

Also removing the mask off of US and be shown what it truly stands (spoiler: not freedom or quality of life), is demoralizing and makes you anti patriotic.

Maybe some of you should go around the planet and see what people think of US.

Not to say that tiktok doesn't have financial interests and doesn't target their users. It's just that the threat is a lot lower when it's a foreign company that otherwise has no other in roads to profit off their Western users.

no, banning it would be an awful decision. it is the only major social media platform that doesn't serve US capital interests. it has been wonderful in engaging younger generations with social movements and without a (mostly) open and free platform for that we risk a stifling of that.

if we force poor people to move out of the big cities to decrepit vacant homes in dying rust belt towns, we could solve the urban housing shortage...or we could just build more housing where people actually live. Which has been shown to decrease housing costs.
