no, banning it would be an awful decision. it is the only major social media platform that doesn't serve US capital interests. it has been wonderful in engaging younger generations with social movements and without a (mostly) open and free platform for that we risk a stifling of that.

OBL is a bad dude, no question, but we also must reckon with the fact that he made some very succinct and true statements about the US in that letter. I do not believe that most people have the intellectual objectivity to reckon with the existence of that letter and the thoughts contained therein. This is going to be bad in the long run but we do have to confront the truth about the situation and the situation is that the US has left a bad taste in much of the world's mouth due to our overt imperialism, which is covered over by our propaganda machine on both sides of the political aisle. This does not even get into the push for an evangelical led christian national movement, which is still a threat and will remain a threat as long as Project 2025 is in play. Something, I might add that the democrats seem not at all interested in combatting.

Blamed the USA about Palestine since they are so close with Israel. But they attack the USA instead of Israel on 9/11 ? After complaint about Israel in the whole letter.

• Al Qaeda didn't do 9/11 because we were jealous of your blue jeans and rock music or because we love killing but in retaliation for killed Palestinians by Israelis funded by American taxes; murder is wrong except to kill the one trying to kill you

They're owned by ByteDance who are required to follow direction by the Chinese government, but they are not owned by the government. That's also no different from US companies being beholden to shareholders who arguably hold more power as a collective demographic than the whole of the US government.

The difference is that Chinese companies and propaganda have a lot less access to American and other Western nation consumers. That's not to say they don't have any, but they're far more at risk on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube than they are any Chinese owned platform.

Yes I know there are reasonable and valid anti-Israel takes, this isn't about anybody who is anti-Israel, but the fact that there is a wave of the left becoming the anti-semitic party of all things is just so odd. Like this is the very party that always talks about how the right is full of nazis.

And people WILL see it, and it will hurt the left with Jewish people in the end, and then there's Muslim people who will also be mad at the left, so none of this will work out well
