I laugh because most of, if not all of, the gentrification in NYC is done by young hipster progressives.

People whom I grew up with in white suburbia after graduating college all fled to these areas. All are liberals. I've seen it first hand. Park slope, Canarsie, Williamsburg. And park slope is a perfect example because most of the residents are old school Italian folk. Who have lived in rent controlled apartments until the past 8 years when yuppies began moving in.

Small businesses followed once the neighborhood cleaned up. Such businesses like this coffee shop.

Gentrification is neither a racial or political issue. Its just a "this shit hole area was made a respectable place to live". Albeit price increases are inevitable once that happens only because of the sudden desire to live in the area.

Free market only works if you have competition.

With regional monopolies this isn't the case. It's going to be a fucking disaster. Slow speeds, internet packages, tracking what kind of data is being sent.

Now remember how difficult it is to get a kid in a bath tub and picture that same kid saying, "I didn't give you permission to undress me or put me in the bath! I'm not going in".

I know it sounds absolutely ridiculous. But I've seen children try to pull that "I have rights!" shit over such small crap.

You can already get an idea of what net neutrality will be like.

Take att for example. They have direct tv. If you have att wireless you can stream direct tv with no data charges to your phone.

Now take this idea and say att finally decides to charge you an additional 5 a month to stream services that aren't direct tv.

Now take Verizon who doesn't own any subsidiary service (that I'm aware of) and now you want to stream direct tv now at home, if you have fios.

Verizon says fuck you att, charges the customer an additional 10 a month to stream it and cuts their bandwidth because they don't play nice.

This is the potential nightmare a consumer will have to deal with if the ISP's want it this way.

It's teaching children that a hug is a sign of love and affection.

It was also a sign of respect and admiration for my elder family members. I don't agree with giving children all of these "rights" since children are stupid because they don't have the years of life experience to make major decisions.

This also, in my opinion, will already make socially inept children even more socially inept. My younger nephews have so many problems with interaction and social skills as it is. Now making them even more closeted is just a disaster waiting to happen.

I don't agree with forcing hugs and kisses on strangers. But family members? Like aunts and uncles? Grandparents? Stop.
