Speaking of the series though I really do not like Shigarakis design at all. Thats like my one major issue with the series so far (more Kyouka screen time would be nice though). Those hands all over his face just immediately make me think he looks stupid

Using imagination I would probably go with Anko or Kurenai. They were pretty fine so its a shame they hardly existed at all. Wouldnt even surprise me if a couple people said ..who? to them

I mean even Kishimoto said he draws ugly girls which is probably why he drew them as little as he possibly could in Naruto. What other explanation could there possibly be for how little any of them did??

Is it blind hatred when I dont really even care about it anymore? I mean I just tried to bring it up as a counter example since its the closest thing with similar looking characters LtM likes that I could think of.

LtMs other thing about people immediately recognizing HeroAca characters applies to Fairy Tail too as far as Im concerned. The only similar characters are literally related to each other or look sorta like other characters hes drawn. I havent seen anything else the HeroAca guy has done if he even has done anything else at all so I cant really say if he has or hasnt drawn similar characters in previous series

Uh Im saying like 90% of the people in that image look way too similar? You know sort of like lazy/uninspired/generic/sameface

Its not all about the hair color, but the other two very clearly stand out WAY more than the others and anybody who would argue otherwise is crazy. Like they stand out as much as an 800 pound person at anorexia gathering

You cant tell me most of them dont look pretty similar there. The only non-Monogatari art Ive seen from the artist is in Grisaia where he/she basically just copied designs for it

If Kid Buu was so great at chaos and destruction why didnt he just immediately blow up Supreme Kais planet too. He couldve won if all he did was immediately blow up everything

I cant agree there because Kid Buu didnt even get a good fight at all. He blew up a planet with nobody on it and ultimately got to be defeated by Mr. Satan so Gokus decision to let his family die saving him didnt make him look like the biggest ass in the universe. I just cant care about him more than Fat Buu or Super Buu because there was almost nothing to his entire being. Being just another Cell is better than being nothing to me

Say what you want about Fairy Tails art, but how many other shounen series star a guy with pink hair? You can probably count the number on one hand since pink is an incredibly uncommon hair color for guys in shounen

Whats so crazy about what I said? I thought the girls looked alike on purpose as part of the show being clever poking fun at harems people always go on about. Aside from like 2-3 of them they basically all have the same hair color tone and even cut their hair short in similar styles. That one blue weird loli probably stands out the most of all the girls and I dont even care about her design

Super Buu was awesome though and ultimately he was a way bigger threat than Kid Buu imo. Kid Buu was literally just Buu without any sort of intelligence. Basically a literal toddler with power, but less power than Super Buu. I mean Super Buu couldve also did the only thing of note Kid Buu did aka blow up the Earth. Super Buu not only escaped the HTC by shattering time/space with a scream, but he wiped out all of humanity on top of it.

Literally his entire character is sleeping, screaming and taunting without a word of real dialogue. Thats worse than even Raditz, Dodoria and Zarbon and none of them are even very good either!

I just realized thats kinda funny because he loves Monogatari too and almost all the girls look identical in that at one point

That covers like the entire pre-time skip though...the fact you learn Naruto was secretly probably the greatest prodigy of all time just makes all that stuff in the beginning he preached seemed terrible.

I remember seeing some of Gash Bell. I vaguely recall it anyways, but I never finished it I think. Actually Im not even entirely sure the English airing did finish, but I could be wrong.

I mean Narutos entire point used to be a hardworking loser trying to gain acknowledgment and he turned into somebody completely obsessed with trying to save his friend (how you can call a guy who tried to kill you multiple times and others you cared about friend is beyond me) no matter the cost to himself be it endangering his own life or groveling in tears begging others not to kill him. Along the way hes revealed to basically be ninja Jesus completing the destruction of his entire character

I mean that didnt USED to be the main characters entire point. It only became that when the series went all to shit...Sasuke absolutely deserved to die though.

Ultimately our argument is stupid because neither series has great writing. One never really tried and the other tried way too hard and failed. Ill take super simplistic over overly ambitious resulting in disaster any day though. The result was I enjoyed Fairy Tail even though it never had a deep engaging plot and I ended up hating Naruto so much I quit reading it a few years before it ended.

Ivan was never even a major character to begin with though. He wasnt mentioned at all for a long time and then didnt come back for a while either. I never even felt like Raven Tail was super hyped up. They were just one of many big guilds the group would run into one day and ultimately they got the shortest straw of them by not mattering in the slightest.

Im pretty sure Itachi did give up which was why he did that forehead flick playing around thing. Probably doesnt matter since he wasnt gonna be around much longer after that fight anyways if I recall. Also Sasuke doing a complete 180 had EVERYTHING to do with Itachis secret reveal. Had that never existed he wouldve just been a guy who finally got revenge and then had to find new meaning to life instead of a guy who decided to go all Hitler

I can't even begin to express how that could be called writing.

Itachi, brother of the child badass Sasuke, who is later revealed to be secretly not evil for ??? reasons, introduced (text only) hundreds of chapters before entering the main story...and then literally gives up his only real fight to make the 2nd worst main character even worse and set him on a path where he does awful shit and ultimately never has to pay for any of his crimes or attempted murders. I cant even express how that could begin to be called writing.

Its almost more like an sol shounen in terms of story in a way. Naruto started off good, but the time skip just seriously destroyed basically every positive the series had going for it. Like the writer even literally destroyed all the themes the beginning had including the very being of his main character. How do you fuck up THAT badly?

Id say the Akatsuki were almost entirely fodder/forgettable too. I cant really remember most of them aside from exploding clay guy, puppet guy,
Kisame and Itachi. Itachi is the biggest offender because they hyped him for years only to do almost nothing with him and then try to spin some lame hero story for him.

Ill grant you that Naruto tried a lot harder with its story, but it also completely caved in on itself. Id have preferred it not being so ambitious if that was how it was going to turn out. No villain was done any justice in the long run, all 3 main characters were terrible and it completely went against the main theme it spent years on of a hardworking loser gaining success, friends, etc. Seriously in hindsight basically every major and even minor villain it had turned out incredibly disappointing with no real payoff to their hype

I think it has a pretty great cast! The plot writing could definitely be better, but I just view it as the ultimate positive/happy shounen series. That can kill suspense and hype, but Im pretty satisfied with the series as a whole.

I feel like it has more positives than negatives. I mean Naruto is a pretty bad shounen without much to make up for it. I cant even say that has great art or a good cast to make up for its many many flaws

I feel like a lot of shounen series are guilty of that too though. Either that or they go overboard with making the boss so OP they have to be beaten by dumb asspulls nobody enjoys. I feel like there are very few Jump villains done well
