I think its a thing where people arent satisfied by their favorite media the way they used to be, due to fatigue or life changes or whatever reason, so they want to blame the media they loved for being bad and want to commiserate about it instead of doing the internal/external legwork to figure out what they would like to consume and how to find it.

Ideally WWE would open up like 4 or 5 developmentals (they certainly have the roster bloat for it) and send people to random ones that all taught the same fundamentals but focused on different styles.

That seems to be the long term plan with their international programs

None of the wrestlers speak or act like real human beings, and thus you cant relate to them easily

Hogan was larger than life, but he was mad and frustrated about the same things you were, but had the power to do something about it. Same with Austin.

But whats relatable about Roman Reigns? What problems does he have that we can relate to? Being unpopular because hes the teachers pet? Thats a narrow audience!

To add on to your sterilization critique, which is spot on, its long been said that if you funnel EVERYONE through the same developmental system, the matches all start to blend together into one bland pile of mush.

Yes the WWE style can make for matches as great as any other, but when thats the ONLY style you see for 10 hours a week, yuck.

AJ is a top worker in part because hes not WWE-trained and can adapt his style to the WWE mold.

Brock is a top draw because almost all of his matches are allowed to BREAK the WWE mold (almost, Im looking at you Braun)
