So this sounds to me that all professional porn needs to be held to an equal standard for their employees. Condoms protect but tests catch -- that's not the same and it unfortunately contributed to fear like this. My assumption was that there was a test before every new shoot. Also, is there a reason she couldn't request a fresh STD test? That seems less homophobic than a pure refusal and it would have been better for him and her both. That might not be PC enough either -- just spitballing -- but that could have been better for him and her both this time. Is there a parallel we can draw between pornography partners fearing STDs and athletes fearing diseases? They're both contact-entertainment with health concerns. Both industries try to avoid outbreaks spreading through their work, and I'm not sure where they've each drawn their lines when the individuals' well-being feels legitimately at risk. Like, if an athlete says "I'm not wrestling that guy because his country has a measles outbreak," I don't know how history has handled that situation. Maybe there's some parallel to learn from...? Donald won the Presidency and Roy is the favorite to win next week. Conyers and Franken have to varying degrees taken responsibility. Conyers is stepping down and Franken may be leaving tomorrow too. I can't find the poll right now, but The Young Turks covered one in the past week about how Democrats are much more likely to care than Republicans about reflecting on if they've done something wrong in light of the #metoo movement -- something like 66% to 33%, across both men and women. There was also a poll on TYT about if you could let scandals like these slide for your vote -- Democrats were ~18% yes while Republicans were ~45%. I agree with this but there's quite a bit of dissonance when our sitting president was accused countless times in 2016 and apparently gets a pass And has over the past year thrown support to both Bill O'Reilley and Roy Moore during their accusations. Donald is directly at odds with the movement. In a way though, it feels like this award is trying to bridge that dissonance together and make that conversation happen again more seriously.
