I have nothing against TTYD, it's still a great game and a perfectly fine sequel, but I still prefer the contents of 64. Like the locations, the game progression, the partners, all that stuff, in a direct comparison between the two I like most of the individual elements in 64 better than TTYD.

It kind of seems like something that they would remove on the basis of being unintended.

But now, after they've made that statement, it would look worse on them if they enabled third party peripherals and disabled a first party one. It would be in their best interest to roll with it and play it off as a new feature.
