Depends on your University and the layout. At mine there was multiple student housing apartments very close to campus. It was expected you live there or get a house with friends after freshman year.

And someone did a good job explaining it, but get a job for beer and groceries at ~12hrs a week. Ideally a work study desk job. Use loans and grants to pay rent. Work more than that and you'll burn yourself out and hate your life, higher chance you'll be getting shit grades too with less time for studying.

But seriously, it's common knowledge USA spends more money on their prison system then other countries, largely due to drug laws and the war on drugs.

A simple example is how possession of marijuana is legal in Canada (a measly gram last I checked but whatever), try that in most states in the US and you're looking at some jail time. Hell, you're looking at jail time for stems or shake on the floor of your car. That alone saves Canadian tax payers' money as its less people incarcerated.

My whole point is these kinds of policies aren't simple transitions. Someone mentioned Australia and gun control a few posts up (made me lol). Australia tried banning guns and guess what happened? Criminals still have guns (because they don't follow the law...) and homicide, armed robbery and home invasions became more common than before.

This isn't a hard concept to wrap your head around.

Add everything together and you're looking at 6hrs of sleep before you get to bang your gf/wife.

My food bill is real expensive so the vast majority of my money goes to that. This overlaps with going out and maintaining a social life too.

The remainder of my money is usually saved then invested in bulk qualities of drugs I resell to make more money, ethereum/Bitcoin for a quick in an out profit, or just buying nice things when I have an excess amount of money.

Yeah, not sure wtf happened in my state then. That said I've met some people (for better or worse...) who do get a solid $300ish a month with one kid from SNAP. Won't have steak every night, but definitely enough that you wouldn't be eating ramen very often.

The $10/hr thing, I mean it's more than minimum wage, a debatable living wage (if you have no wife, kids or dog even, if any of those it's not enough) but in my state if you work full time, you make too much to qualify for SNAP despite living on the poverty line rofl.

But yeah in my state/city $10/hr for 40 hours a week isn't gonna cut it for rent/mortgage, a car payment and student loans. You can forget right the fuck about eating today or tomorrow on $10/hr if you went to college lol.

Spending $40 over the weekend is acceptable. Money is useless if you don't spend it (I know this will be hard to comprehend for most readers here...) but that doesn't mean you should be stupid with it.

Your quality of life is shit if your diet consists of ketchup sandwhiches, ramen and ice cube soup and can't even check your bank account from your phone.

Not arguing though that the majority of people are idiots with their money.

Made me lol. If I was gonna take the bait I'd say uber and public transportation to get to work and back cost more than my car payment (high $300) per month. I live 15 miles from where I work, it's $4 round trip in my car, take a wild guess how much uber would bend you over for. The bus is cheaper but there's something to be said for time is money. Fuck waking up 3 hours before your shift, rushing out of the house, and thinking public transportation is reliable, just lol. Good way to lose your job from being late too many times.

Edit: the bus is cheaper than uber. $9 one way 5x a week comes out equal to my car payment lmfao

If you compare a 40 hour a week minimum wage job to SNAP, Section 8, and Medicaid benefits, welfare doesnt just pay more... it pays A LOT more. You are far better off working a part time minimum wage paying job that you are working a full time job for 30k a year (above minimum wage) Medicaid alone is 8-10k a year in benefits. Section 8, depending on if you get a voucher, can be worth anywhere between 8-20k a year. SNAP is another few thousand a year.

Add kids into the mix and it is entirely possible to work 15 hours a week, collect benefits, and get a 3,000+ dollar check every February.

Again, how? SNAP in my state you can't qualify for if you make more than $1200/mo gross before taxes (just fucking lol, democrats) meaning you have to literally not work 40 hours at a minimum wage job (minimum wage, living wage, whatever. $10/hr full time and you don't qualify.) if you do qualify you get a whopping $70-$100 a month to spend on food.

This is before children. So please explain how to get a few thousand a year via SNAP.
