They aren't abusive, my dad is a cool guy but doesn't give me jack shit for help (minus legal advice if needed, part of his profession) whereas my mom is verbally abusive alcoholic and just goes on tirades with a long list of put downs how everything is my fault, from me being denied the first apartment I looked at because my roommate's mediocre credit as a college graduate (I got approved mind you...) my brother's alcohol problem, etc. even demanding I give her money to buy more alcohol because I'd have two beers with her during the time she drinks 30. Hell the only thing I haven't been blamed for is my brother knocking up some chick he can't go a day without bickering with. Doesn't really bug me as I just tell her to fuck off and I've had enough successes and achievements in my life that I don't let it get to me. The biggest part is they're essentially useless as far as basic help that would make life easier as a mid 20s college grad. Things like co signing for a car, borrowing $200-$300 because you make shit pay as a recent college grad without much to save, etc. always a way around these things (sell drugs, use your ms office skills to make fake pay stubs, etc) but life is a lot smoother with even some minor help from your parents. Hell, I got told to fuck off and save up my last semester of college as a full time student while working part time for $10/hr when I moved and asked for help with a mattress and a dresser (previous place was a prefurnished apartment). They basically try and convince me I don't need things and tell me to go fuck myself when I ask for help. When I do accomplish something their response is always "oh see we told you you didn't need ___ and could do it!" This shit infuriates me and goes completely against what I support. It's the opposite of bettering yourself. Don't put down someone who is trying obviously as it's just an asshole thing too do but these kind of people are fair game and deserve ruthless fat shaming. I had a tiny amount of something that was in my wallet for months that I didn't know about. Thank God no one noticed. Lol. Airport TSA in the US are generally incompetent. You'd be surprised how much and what gets through.
