Equipment? The shield is pretty similar to others we've gotten, but anything with Spr on it is nice. The hammer for Machine Killer, and Fire isn't too terribly common, so it's kind of nice. The Spr +20% materia is probably worthwhile, because again, Spr is in pretty high demand for a lot of trials. The rest of it is in the "I have spare currency" bin, if even that.

I dunno if I can build up Rem well enough since I don't have her daggers, and my best staves still need farming. And even then, that's just going to be Dracospikes. And are you suggesting going in with no chainers? No wonder this fight takes forever. And lastly, what happens when Zarg is my mana battery? No Ace, no Lunera, and I don't know if anyone else really fills that role other than a bard.

Aigaion I'm not 100% sure. Probably Firelandu, he seemed pretty popular. I'm mostly banking on the slow method and using Rem to Re-Raise someone constantly, and assuming that covers the more tedious portion of the fight. Tilith for healing, as she's my best. WoL for tank, maybe EV if I can be convinced he's better, but he's not potted at all yet. And Rikku or Zarg for my final support slot.

Marlboro would be GLSakura, but I don't think I can take it at all. My understanding is Wilhelm is pretty much the only tank that can work for this monstrosity without luck, and yeah...No Wilhelm. GLSakura got the lower stages with ease though, so I'm hoping she can carry me through ELT as well.

And Bloody Moon is again GLSakura, because she's just amazing that way. I may have to change my plans if I need her support more than her offense, and my best MP battery is Zarg, which won't be able to keep up with two of them I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure I could take Aigaion at this point, I'm just not willing to invest the 5+ hours it's going to take to beat it. I'm quite certain I can't take Marlboro down. And if I can fill the rest of my slots, GLSakura plus a friend GLS should let me tackle Bloody Moon eventually. Only problem is my best MP battery is Zarg, I doubt he can keep up with GLS' mana consumption.

I'll only have the one ticket from the FanFest when it hits, but considering what my previous 10+1's have gotten me, I'm quite comfortable with having spent them anyway.

I'm also looking to pare down my friend list, but I'm a bit worried about just doing a massive cull and then finding myself unable to get any new friends. My last two attempts to pull people in have been...less than stellar. But it's rather impressive how many Nier units keep clogging up my friend selection, and I really don't have any use for them at all.

So any thoughts on the best way to farm up Rat Tails? I have a party that works exceedingly well for getting through encounters, I've already farmed up my Hard Pebbles, and I'm working on Pure Stones right now. But those damn Shadow Bahamuts have such a low drop rate, and I still need to use one Rat Tail to kill off Bahamut again so I can nab the Dragon Killer+ recipe. I assume Shadow Bahamuts only spawn one per area, I'm just wondering if the energy efficiency of starting one exploration is more annoying than going to an area where all the locations are easily accessible (Fading Coast seems great for this).

Also, for the Garnet+Tornado strategy, do I need anything on Garnet other than a fully awakened EVO Mag +? I already have that, just wondering if there's anything else I need to put on her.

Oh, sorry. I read your comment as implying that you had an iPhone, and just hadn't looked into it. I've been having some issues with it anyway as of late, the controls occasionally hang up or just stop processing my taps, so I think I have some odd thing set up that I don't want. Still, it's allowed me to get a few TMRs over the last five months, including my (finally!) first Excalibur today.

So I took on Golbez just now, and that was...interesting. Party was Rem, Orlandeau, WoL, Rikku, Tilith, and DV friend. So I use the first bit to just regularly attack and build up my Esper and Limit gauges. Okay, that works well. I burst him down with Orlandeau chains and Dagger Boomerang. This also works well. He summons Shadow Dragon, and it goes down in two turns. Great! I star whittling him down. Awesome! I use Carbuncle since Rikku had a free turn. Wait, what?

Yes, at 10% I used Carbuncle and blew my Esper gauge. Follow up with nearly 15 rounds of me using wimpy regular attacks, eventually keeping Orlandeau and DV from attacking at all because they were doing too much damage. He didn't use his 10 HP move once to try and kill me (miraculously), up until I was ready to kill him with the Esper. Thankfully, regular attacks generate a crapton of LB crystals, and Tilith had Rikku's Pouch equipped, so ReRaise was never a problem. One final Divine Ruination combo and a Sylpheed summon (which I thought was mistimed because it did the damage after the combo finished), and I got my Esper kill mission!

My second attempt with removing Rem for the 5-man reward did not go so well. I shall have to reevaluate my team layout, potentially dumping WoL for Soleil or bringing Rem back. Losing the breaks will suck, but I think I can manage it. I may also try GL Sakura, not sure.

And outside of the potential for insta-death, how hard is Golbez really? I may finally raise up my own Garnet just to make the esper kill mission easier, because I really want that accessory for my GL Sakura.

Most of the complaints seem to stem from Golbez being able to one-shot you if the RNG decides it's appropriate, making the fight a DPS race at the best of times. The upside is, he doesn't seem to have nearly as much HP. I haven't tried taking him on yet, not sure what units I want to use. I have cleared out all the raid difficulties, and this one looks like it'll be easy enough to one-shot. I really envy anyone who has more than one GL Sakura, because they're so few and far between. Looks like I'm going to have to rely on Orlandeau's on my friend list as usual, because who would put Excalibur on their Tidus? :/

What kinds of missions are you two focusing on? I almost do 8 hour missions exclusively, and always 3 hour when they pop up unless it's right before bed. I've had a lot more success doing the shorter missions, as those tend to have better clear odds over the 12 hour missions. I only do 24 hour ones after I've gotten my 140 for the week, as those have terrible return on relics per hour.

Anyone else have one of those units that if you run into it in the Arena, you know you're going to have a bad time? Lots of people get annoyed with Noctis, Setzer, Ling, and now Ayaka's gotten obnoxious. But you know who I hate? Dark Veritas, especially when I realized that this week Black Magic is forbidden, which makes my dual Victorias completely and utterly worthless. Just got wiped by one that used nothing but Dual Slash.

It was a completely nonsense thing to do, but I decided to chuck my 100% moogle on her. I was tired of saving it, and I'm having a blast with her now that she's so buff. She's not perfectly optimized for me yet, but I can tell even with 860 Mag that she'll be able to pull her own weight. Personally, if you want to use her, I think using moogles is a very reasonable thing to do. Other TMRs can be farmed; 5* units, if their TMR is good enough, should be moogled.

I had to use three drainers to get his MP down on the first turn, but I believe he only has a single target spell over 80%, so you can revive and heal up. Once you get him fullh drained, you can survive with WoL tanking down to 60%, and after that you constantly need a drainer. As long as your drainer is strong enough, you should be able to get away with just one, but its still an RNG crapshoot after 40%.

Are you going for the esper summons as well? I made sure to stay above 60% for that, made surviving much easier, but it also means a lot of work could go down the drain if RNG screwed me.

My WoL was able to survive the battle with a cycle if Arms Eraser->Light is With Us->Free turn. That was his full rotation the entite time in every attempt. If you have Pod, that will greatly help his survivability, and if he has Mechanical Heart equipped hell usually heal most of the damage.

Getting to that is the easy part. The hard part is surviving the last 40% long enough to not get hit with a fully powered Hailfire. After he uses Soul Siphon or Eternal Torment, theres a good chance hell use Hailfire, and if he has enough MP it can easily one-shot your party. I saw you had Zarg, who was a big MVP for me, and Orlandeau who lets you bring a Dark Veritas as a partner. Who are you using for healing/MP battery? Zarg can kind of do the latter, but youll need MP recovery scrolls to heal the entire party.

For your last member, anything that can drain MP is good. I used FV, intending to use him as a finisher, but he wound up always using Pods damage mitigation or draining MP in the last stage of the fight. Orlandeau and DV were my only source of damage. And I did wind up resetting twice because the RNG was just awful, and it made the last stage actually survivable. But in the last stage you always need to drain his MP, otherwise he absolutely will kill you.

Are you talking her MP consumption? Yeah, my only plan is to either run her with Zarg for that sweet 50% MP recover. Or use Rem, Re-Raise on turns shes not Dagger Boomeranging with GL Sakura chains.

Course Im probably screwed because I only have one, and I doubt shes going to be a popular friend unit. But shes new and shiny, so Im still happy to have her.

Yes, but draining MP doesnt do much good when he heals himself for 10% MP at the start of his turn. Im considering the reset, but doesnt Gumi come down pretty harshly on that?

Ill give it another shot tonight, and see what happens now that Im heavily geared for fire resistance. Maybe thatll make the difference.

Much appreciated, though Im about to have to shut my phone off for a flight, so itll be a while. However, I think were failing to address my issue: Hailfire. Nothing weve discussed helps me survive that, as Eternal Torment and Soul Siphon dont lock it out, elemental protection gets nerfed thanks to Eternal Torment, and if I cant burst him down, Im not likely to survive long enough to not get hit by it.

Im realizing a good chunk is equipment, so would it be better to spread the elemental protection evenly, or stack it up? I vaguely recall reading something about it being party-wide averages, so Im not sure if it matters, but I want to make sure. Never geared well for elemental protection in the past.

Main reason I took Orlandeau was no DV popped up on my list. I almost think I should take my own dupe Orlandeau and ask someone for a finisher instead. I also may need to look at buffing my fire resistance more than I have been, and swapping out for confuse immunity equipment instead of usinf Zarg for it. Thatll let me use him for more things, or swap him out entitely.

I dont have Fixed Dice. Im not kidding when I say theyre not fully geared; Rem only had 610 Mag, and FV has about as much strength. The annoying part is that if I could just survive Eternal Torment and Hailfire, Id be fine, but that one-shots me. Im using

Zarg: Rotation of Archadian Light->Bastion->Free turn for Rejuvination most times
WoL: Break->Light is With Us->Free turn
Tilith: Stat break protection and healing, nothing else
Orlandeau: MP drain and chaining
Rem/FV: MP drain, Pod defensive buff, and finisher near the end
Friend Orlandeau/DV: MP drain, chaining, and if DV dark elemental protection

What I run into is when I get below 40%, I cant cover all my needs. I need stat buffs and confusion protection from Zarg. I need healing from Tilith. If I let Orlandeaus or my finisher MP drain, I risk getting Eternal Torment->Hailfire killing me. Up until that point, I can handle the fight.

Im about ready to give up on this stupid boss. I can get him down to 10-15%, but he healed himself, Soul Siphoned, and Hailfired in one turn. You cant survive that, and both FV and Rem just dont do enough damage for me as finishers because theyre not geared at their best.

I think I'll swap out for FV, since he combos well with Orlandeaus. I got several more Undead Killers to put on him and my Orlandeau, he can get Odin as an Esper, and until I summon my twin espers, he can also get a Pod to throw up the physical damage mitigation WoL needs to survive. I'll not try this plan until tomorrow, but hopefully it'll work. Just wish I could get him a light-elemental weapon. Stupid Excaliburs not being finished yet.

Ah, so it can still Eternal Torment and go into Hailfire, which is still an auto-wipe. See, I knew they had done the lockout, I just thought that applied to all of his MP-based damage skills. Apparently not. So the main issue I'm running into is I'm just not doing damage fast enough. With chaining I can only knock off about 15% of his HP at a time, and none of my finishers are built up. My last run was 2x Orlandeau, Zarg, Tilith, WoL, and a friend Orlandeau. I have a good rotation down, it's just a matter of not getting RNG-screwed. Maybe I'm going to have to try and bring a finisher instead of a second Orlandeau, even if they don't have the best gear.

Ugh, just tried my second Nightmare attempt, and the skill lockouts still aren't working. He healed himself with Eternal Torment and proceeded to blast me with Shadow Storm (maybe Hailfire, I don't remember) immediately afterwards. I wouldn't mind if the first half of the fight didn't take forever trying to build the esper gauge twice. Gonna wait and see if they do a hotfix at some point, and if not, I'll just have to pray.

Made my first Nightmare attempt, and did pretty good until I got overconfident and forgot to drain his MP. I will say that the first several turns were easier than they should have been because I had DV friend that had higher HP than anyone else in my party, so the king never got any MP for his big spell until he started Soul Siphoning the party. It was kind of awesome.

Is there any chance of taking on Bahamut if you don't have a fully TMR'ed team? I was considering waiting until I could get Reberta up and running, but if he's so difficult that I don't stand a chance, I might as well just gun for him while people still have Garnets up.

Going to try Nightmare tonight or tomorrow. I'm not going to touch Bahamut for a little bit most likely, as I need to get Wind Veritas' TMR for my Reberta. It's very tempting to use moogles for it now, rather than farm it up, but I'm still about 50% out from that. Wish I could build up two, but I'm probably better off asking for a friend with one, assuming I can cover all my bases support-wise.
