Probably because, sexist as you may deem it, many sports have separate male and female leagues for biological reasons. One's gender should have little to no effect on one's physical capabilities, but their sex might, as such it is obvious we would divide such things based on sex, not gender.

Then suddenly "oh look, you have a few less shifts this week, it happens", and then more and more shifts gets dropped until you just have one because you're that asshole who sued over $10 that you were owed.

Ask a server about it, I bet you they have never been paid the difference.

Look, I've worked in restaurants for half of my jobs, the female side of my family works in restaurants as well, he's right about this.
