There were more than a couple news and politics podcasts/radio shows that did a feature on it and acted as if it was the first videogame with a narrative; like the future of interactive storytelling had changed. It was obvious that a lot of people who don't know shit about gaming were paid to promote this thing to the moon. If the "rule" had changed, Yoda and our heroes wouldn't know it. Jedi have no attachment/no "love" rules, but they break them without acknowledging it. Anakin says as much when he's wooing Padme, and Jedi in the EU including Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have had romantic relationships. Jedi and Sith are hypocrites; both of their approaches to the force are flawed partially because they lie to themselves. Mechanically, the rule of two gives the Jedi motivation to begin the hunt for Sidious.
