It's always a weird feeling when one of those "dictator-for-life" types step down, die or are forced out. I find it curious how this backlash will likely succeed after it became known he intended to make his wife Grace his successor instead of the constitutionally bound line of succession.

I don't expect Zimbabwe to prosper under Mnangagwa, of course. But he is the rightful successor.

Kwirk (Game Boy)

It's a puzzle game where you move around objects like boxes and rotating paddles to create a pathway to the exit. There are only thirty levels in the main game, but three in particular are rather difficult and probably ate up about a quarter to a third of my total play time.

It's decent, but I'm totally burned out on puzzles and the music is drilled into my head. It is a nice tune, at least.

Donkey Kong Land 2 (Game Boy)

The graphics are a little better than DKL and the controls and platforming mechanics are significantly better to the point that it really does feel like playing DKC2.

Unfortunately it goes way too far in that direction and it just makes me want to play DKC2 the whole time. The level designs are all different, but it parallels the SNES game almost level for level in style and gimmick. Barrel shooting continued to be an issue like in the first one. Frustration set in a handful of times from problems inherent to a small display and RAM limitations like enemies offscreen hitting you or very rapid enemy respawn. It wasn't too much of a problem.

The game is also significantly easier to 100% than DKC2. I almost couldn't help but collect the secrets for most levels on the first go, and it looks like my final completion time for blind 100% will be about 7 hours.

EDIT: Also the music, rather than being remixed like in Donkey Kong Land, is a direct conversion to the Game Boy and as a result most of them sound weird and uninteresting. Only a couple of tracks hold up.

Maybe it's an antiquated system that was used to prevent inherently unwinnable cases from moving forward and taking up the court's time. In the past I imagine that after the statue of limitations, the evidence (most notably eyewitness accounts) would have eroded to the point that nothing could be used to prove someone was guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

But now there may be more certain methods like DNA testing to make conclusive connections.

EDIT: Also I know that that's generally something left up to a grand jury anyway, but it's still a thought. I don't actually know.

That's what Lopen was arguing when the first accusations against Moore had surfaced, if I remember correctly. And I think it's a sensible consideration as long as it isn't used to attenuate the seriousness of the actions.

My question of course is what meaningful action is taken if the timing of these revelations are partisan. I feel it's morally wrong to withhold the information until a more "relevant time." I only say this in relation to someone trying to get a politically advantageous position. Obviously I don't hold it against victims of abuse for remaining silent about an event since it's traumatic and personal.

But withholding for the purpose of manipulating political discourse is exactly how Wikileaks has operated. It seems worthy of investigation to find where the information is being acquired or how it's being "dealt" around. Blackmail could also be at play in other instances.

My understanding is that there isn't anything really inherent to keto that makes it more effective than other diets (still the same old CICO), but its black and white nature in the macronutrient breakdown makes for a solid plan that you can't wiggle out of. If you go halfway on keto, you're going to be in for a bad time. Therefore a wholesale lifestyle change is integral and that's always the most important part of any diet for weight loss.

I'm personally skeptical of it for long term and think extended planning is good for an "exit strategy," but I think it's an okay thing to try temporarily. It has a lengthy history of use for easing epilepsy, especially in children, so I think it's plausible it could be beneficial for other neurological conditions. But even for those children I don't believe they're kept on for longer than a year.

Not a video game, but the most unlucky thing to happen to me in a game was trying to invade Indonesia from Siam in Risk and failing when I had a 40-6 advantage.

EDIT: I don't remember my exact troop number and 60 was obviously an exaggeration. But I'm pretty sure it was at least 40.

Tail 'Gator (Game Boy)

This is a pretty fun game that I picked up just because I thought the alligator character looked cute. It didn't take me long to beat, but the controls and gameplay mechanics are just about perfect, the music is catchy and if I really get into speedrunning, I think I like it enough to make it one of my speed games.

Donkey Kong Land (Game Boy)

It maintains the high quality sprites in DKC's style without much loss on the GB. It's amazing what was done with the Game Boy's soundchip and soundfont. A few tracks are just average, but numerous stick out as some of the greatest I've heard come from the Game Boy. Unfortunately the game has some mediocre platforming mechanics because of awkward momentum and slippery contact with the ground. Combine that with platforms that are very slightly off on occasion because of the extra detail the environments have, and it can be a little frustrating. Most of the level designs are fine, but there are a few particularly in the third world that are iffy.

The Yankees aren't unlikable, but I never understood how they were especially likeable except I guess certain sports people repeated it a lot until it became some kind of intrinsic fact. Like they have just as many players who are having fun and being likeable because they're doing well as almost any other team I've seen do well in baseball.

Notable exceptions are whenever a team is doing well but has a player like Papelbon on their roster.
