take off the glasses and look at the mechanics in vanilla raids vs wrath

the difference is night and day

vanilla was only "hard" because it was a buggy mess, there was no clear design or balance among classes at all, gearing was a nightmare (3 drops for a 40 man raid, lol), itemization was garbage, there was very little theorycrafting, addons were not as complex as they are now, etc etc

i mean seriously, look at a fight like 25h arthas compared to literally anything in vanilla

CS 1.6, HL1, and other games ran on a different engine. When they made source, they changed it so the engine worked differently. If they kept making games using goldsource, bunnyhop and everything else would still be there.

cs:s and csgo have both had true bunnyhopping but were patched out

TF2 hats didn't exist when the game was made.

That doesn't change the fact the game was babyfied purposefully, not because of the engine

Well I've been dumping a lot of souls into faith expecting to do a spear build

you can respec 5 times per playthrough iirc

and yeah, powerstancing maces makes the game ResidentSleeper

you can respec as many times as you have the item to do it, DS3 is what implemented a limit.

Couldnt remember if ascetics reset them or not

soul memory is something fucking stupid

in ds1+3 summoning/invading worked on a level range

in ds2 the range is based on how many total souls you have earned, regardless of actually using them to level up or not

Neither. Tighter spread. Holo FAL had 5 more damage compared to non holo

Eh, I still standby holom16 being the most OP weapon in the game. The holosight made it laser accurate and pretty much a one burst kill at most ranges in the game, not to mention it penetrates so you could score multiple kills with a single burst. Only map I don't use it on is Rust, which I use OMADC instead and camp the top of the stack in the middle

It's like BxR and Super Jumps in Halo 2. Just bugs people latch on to and get taken out in sequels.

in tfc valve made specific fixes/patches towards the movement options in the game rather than outright moving them

the game as a whole is much slower compared to classic and was stripped of most of the more difficult mechanics from qwtf/tfc in order to make the game as accessible as possible

chopping is the only technique that is arguably a bug/exploit and like i said it was usually banned

the amount of mechanical skill involved in TFC is unreal and will probably never be seen again

it is by far and away the most indepth shooter ive ever played with an incredibly high skill floor and ceiling

true bunny hopping gives you a speed increase compared to normal movement

in TFC 1.6 you could bhop up to 170% movespeed (1.5 and earlier had no cap on momentum), past that you were throttled back down to normal momentum and had to rebuild your speed back up. this made maintaining perfect speed absolutely integral to your playstyle in knowing how much to strafe with each jump to avoid losing all your speed

chopping had two different forms, one of which was completely useless and the other was actually banned in league play for a bit iirc. the first form of chopping was simply crouching while moving, which was faster than walking normal but slower than bhopping so it was totally useless. the second form was crouching while bhopping. it made your hitbox incredibly janky and removed much of the skill needed to avoid the 170% speed cap. this technique was usually banned in league play as it was basically an exploit

sharking was a technique where you could your momentum while in water (a scout or medic could conc, hit the surface of the water, and retain their momentum rather than being slowed down from being in water)

rampsliding was simply concing into a ramp and sliding up it, crouching at the top to not get stopped and make impressive plays using the carried momentum from sliding up the ramp, such as sliding around a demomans pipes or to catch a dropped flag in midair

trimping was jumping into ramps to give you a higher jump and momentum, almost like a rampslide minus the concing

why not just build a gaming PC instead
