I know people don't like to have pity for the shooter, and I obviously don't know enough about this situation to make an informed statement, but I'd be willing to bet this kid was probably bullied, and if so, the school probably did fuck all about it.

Again, I'm just guessing but considering the kid is only 15 I'd say that there's a good chance it was a bullying issue. Regardless, our school systems need to take a long hard look at how we're handling bullying, because zero tolerance policies until the kid snaps and takes matters into their own hands or chooses to commit suicide are obviously not working.
