i'm basically rooting for the majority of the girl group side, while i can put name-to-face of about 12 people on the boy group side (though there are a few groups where i've heard their stuff but don't know any members). i don't know if this is my personal bias, or because boy groups don't really flop in the same way, so there are a lot more genuine nugus there.

so dajeong (black hair) is from produce 101, but i don't remember her at all, and i remember everyone. she must have had zero screen time. apparently she placed 62nd overall and went from D to C, so right in that meaty part of the curve which is the worst place to be.

anyways, song is pleasant, if completely generic. kan mi-youn was supposedly involved in creating them, but i think that was just mediaplay (which worked on me at least).

going to keep hyping up the unit/mix nine participants i like now and then until the shows starts.

Matilda - they have 3 songs which are all decent




but mostly i'm rooting for them because they were funny on their episode of weekly idol with Map6 and B.I.G (who are great too, and have 2 members on the unit). whole episode is worth watching, but here's their intro, saebyeol schooling everyone at random play dance, and the cleopatra game.





saebyeol is going to emerge as the top visual of 200 on her way to being the unit's centre btw.

The food was among my favorite parts of OMG, so Let's Eat sounds interesting! And a coming of age story sounds pretty decent, though part of what I liked about OMG was that its primary characters were in that 20s to 30s age range.

Actually, low to high 20s is the age range of the cast in Age of Youth, so maybe not quite coming-of-age. There's a range from first year university to last year with gaps due to financials.

It's the only one I've watched, actually. I liked the actress so I started on Strong Girl Bong-Soon, but I wasn't feeling it after Episode 1. And k-drama episodes are long, so the cost of trying out Episode 2 might be tough.

Any recommendations subtitled on Netflix?

Yeah, I didn't love Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. It's very disjointed, and the characters were generally too one-note for the serious bits to work. Worst of all, they gave Ji Soo nothing to work with, when he's been the best part of all the other dramas I've seen him in.

For recommendations, Hello My Twenties/Age of Youth is probably my favourite kdrama. It's a coming-of-age, slice-of-life show about five college students that does more with 12 episodes than most dramas do with 20. It's very well-written, and the cast has great chemistry. Age of Youth 2 is ongoing and, amazingly, as good as the first despite its casting troubles.

Let's Eat is also great. It's another slice-of-life show, but about people who live alone and the makeshift community they form. It's laidback and sweet, and does something kind of amazing with its eating scenes. Avoid Let's Eat 2, where they seemed to have no understanding of what made the first one good.

reminiscing about speed, who have 3 members on mixnine and 2 on the unit. they were talented and had great songs, but were always doomed since they were under MBK. remember when they debuted with a remake of t-ara's lovey dovey? though i don't really count that since they still had some co-ed school fat to trim (including beetleborg) before the good line-up.


they had the best version of sistar's alone that brave brothers ever did.




they had some amazing (if perhaps a bit gimmick-y) choreography. i wonder how many injuries there were from the acrobatics and the heelies.

yeah the LOEN group is scheduled for next year, and a bunch of their trainees in addition to soomin and soyeon are on mixnine. it's just weird to have two shows at the same time with faded/underrated idols, though mixnine also has trainees. i hear coco and sori of cocosori are going on one show each and i guess, fuck, what else are you going to do?
