BotW is literally my dream game: I used to fantasize as a kid and young adult about playing a massive free-roam Zelda game that was eerily similar to what BotW turned out to be. Hell, I specifically remember dreaming about wandering through a ruined junglescape that was almost exactly like the Faron (?) Jungle.

And also, obligatory Obsidian-made Fallout 4 / NV sequel.

I wonder how many people want a male or female Earth Avatar.

Assuming that we'd ever actually be lucky enough to get an Earth-Avatar series (let alone a Fire-Avatar series to finish up the cycle), I'd only really care that one's male and one's female for the sake of balance. Beyond that, I'd be fine with however they went with it.

It's always possible that Korra could pass away young (though I don't necessarily like to entertain that notion, since I'm way more attached to Korra than I was Aang).

I went into Gannon with level 4 armor and two pieced him and tanked him because I was way too overprepared and the game never told me to slow down.

This pretty well illustrates that BotW was never meant to be a game geared for you.

Your love or hate of BotW will depend at least partly on what game you choose to enter the series with. If your first / best experience with the series was Zelda 1 / Link to the Past, you will hugely appreciate the serie's return to its roots: a more freeform create-your-own-adventure style of gameplay. If you're more used to what Ocarina of Time turned the series into and the handhol...erm, more structured gameplay style that it and the majority of its successors provide, you will likely feel frustrated by the lack of guidance. For what it's worth, BotW delivers a go-anywhere, do-anything experience better than any other game I've played. See that mountain in the distance? You actually can climb it. Ultimately it depends on how you feel about open-world games; whether you see them as sandboxes to play unrestricted in, or giant empty stretches of nothing.

As for the Shrines, they're basically traditional dungeons and caves split up into 120 smaller, more focused puzzles: you will enter a Shrine and be given a specific goal (or related set of goals) to get through in order to get your treasure(s) and a Spirit Orb, which can be redeemed elsewhere for heart or stamina upgrades. Traditional LoZ puzzle / exploration items like the Hookshot are gone - you are given a core set of magical abilities in the game's intro, and use those for the rest of the game. This may seem like and unwelcome change at first, and maybe your opinion of that won't change as the game goes along. Personally, I found it a treat to have these abilities available from the outset, so that I could use and master them throughout the entire game (and considering how much this spider-monkey version of Link paired with the Glider trumps the Hookshot any day of the week in terms of exploration freedom, I highly doubt you'll be missing it). I also greatly appreciated the way that the shrines had self-contained puzzles, the solutions to which were not immediately obvious like in traditional Zelda games: 'oh, you've come across a dungeon puzzle, odds are the solution is that seemingly-cool item you just got that will be mostly useless after this dungeon is over.'

In addition, there's still the four Divine Beast dungeons - not on par length-wise with your average traditional Zelda dungeons, but can still give you a decent puzzle-solving fix in addition to the Shrines.

Eh I found him to be a boring chump character so I'm glad they got rid of him now.

I pretty much agree with this. Snoke = dumb name, dumb face, dumb presence, dumb everything. The only investment I had in this random was that he might end up being Plagueis (still might of course, force ghost etc, but whatever). I personally did not want to see an entire 3rd trilogy with a poor man's rehash of the Palpatine / Vader dynamic; I'm now more interested in seeing how Ren will (hopefully) act on his own accord for an entire movie.

I thought it was perfect. I was groaning a bit when he both showed up out of nowhere and then pulled a DBZ by standing through a blaster firestorm unscathed, but the deus ex was completely validated by it being revealed that he literally magicked himself there.

Because it's not practical in any other situation. The ship was empty save for Admiral Sattler. Even in, say, the Rebellion's most desperate moment during RotJ's space battle, Ackbar and co. would have sacrificed their entire fleet and all hands just to take out the Executor and a few other destroyers (and likely wouldn't have done catastrophic damage to Death Star 2 even they'd kamikazied the entire fleet against it).

I too loved that. The cherry on top was Snoke's ship captain realizing how fucked they were at the last second; moments like that are my favorite, such as *Return of the King book spoilers* Tolkien describing in great detail just how deeply Sauron realized how screwed he was the moment he sensed the Ring at Mount Doom.

For me personally, Goron rolling is the massive rotting albatross around MM's neck that keeps it from being the flawless masterpiece the rest of the internet wants it to be. So I'd prefer putting my imagination towards something else.
