I would not because if the child didn't want to participate I would be interested in why. Depending on the age this could mean a lot of different things. This kind of behavior is well worth understanding as it presumably impacts a lot more of the child's beliefs and behaviors than the actual act itself.

I'm agnostic but I still participate in prayer at family functions it's just polite.

I also tell people I will pray for them if it makes them feel more at ease it's just polite.

I have realized the world doesn't revolve around me and my beliefs so I find no offense in these kind of things anymore.

If anything I find it uplifting to experience and participate in different things in life even if it's not my thing.

But they should still reach-out to the parent and explain if you see "odd" behavior. If you have 99% participation and 1 kid not it's usually a good idea to find out if the parent is aware of the situation.
