(as is evidenced by you bringing up health care as an example of something that doesn't warrant such consideration, for some reason).

The thing about health care, is saying 'well lets wait and see what happens' is kind of not ok....as people may die in the process of seeing what happens.

I understand why people on the left say um NO we cannot see what happens we NEED to ensure that this is locked down so people CANNOT be harmed or denied insurance.

Pretty pathetic to see people tackling net neutrality with the exact same desperation and rhetoric though

We had ISPs removing emails, blocking websites, blocking p2p, Skype and other services, charging extra for using specific programs like facetime, truly sounds fine.

And yet the world didn't end. We lived our day to day lives and we were pretty ok. And for the majority of us the change after these horrible things to a net neturality bill was un-noticeable.

So yes, this is a setback. Yes, this is something we should be disappointed about.

But let's please not treat it as the same level of magnitude as health care or security

Also people that are pro repeal: "Internet providers had very little to no competition in most regions for over a decade before 2015, but somehow the repeal now will suddenly make them compete!"

Well maybe it's that either A. nothing will change.

Or B. they will begin to compete and it will end up better for the consumer in the end.

Those views are not opposed. That seems like a win/win?

Again, Im not necessarily agreeing with this view but I understand it

People can have a view, but they should understand people have an opposing view, and they should be curious to find out why those people think so, and to hear what they have to say. And then they should be able to discuss it reasonably and not condemn people who don't agree with them, and peacefully try to reach a common ground.

Some issues like health care there is no room for this.

This is not one of those issues.

Im sick of so many stupid people pretending they know everything on both sides. Left, right, they're all a bunch of petty children.

I never understand how anyone could seriously want corporations to have more power over people when they're not on the payroll. But then again this country hates poor people and think they aren't humans.

Rich people hate poor people, poor people hate rich people, and in general, people sympathize with whatever group they fall into and think the other group is scum.

The amount of people who actually want to be fair, and listen to both sides, and understand both sides, and both arguments, is pretty small. Rich, and poor, alike. Most of them are no better than the other

How does it help consumers?

The "promise" of competition that no market is obligated to promote? The removal of government intervention because that's supposedly an automatic negative in all situations?

You are very biased towards your view, but there are a lot of people that disagree. That's fine and all, just understand that your opinion is your opinion and their opinion is their opinion, and the only way to know who was right, was to point to actual facts and things that actually happen.

Maybe in a year you point to how things have changed for the worse and you can actually make change happen for the good.

Of course the left is just making themselves look bad by freaking out so horribly that when things don't go as badly as they expect, it just will make people roll their eyes at them.

When people over-react its like the boy who cried wolf. You kill credibility.

I really want to like the left but Im finding them just as bad as the right lately and its really disillusioning me in general. They're no more willing to listen to the other side than the right is, no more willing to take the high road, and just as likely to stretch the truth and over-react when they lose

I wish there was a party that was reasonable and actually treated serious situations seriously, mild situations mildly, and knew when to wait and see, and knew how to react appropriately, and not say that the world is going to end

Is it not possible that people just legitimately think competition is good for the average consumer?

It's possible, the issue is that these people do not know how ISPs work in this country. For instance, the only internet service I have where I live (aside from nigh-unusable satellite internet) is Spectrum. I can't get Comcast, Time Warner, or anything else. The place I lived before then had no ISPs aside from satellite internet. There is no competition in the ISP industry, it is simply a matter of location.

And I think a large reason this issue is getting people so worked up is the blatant disregard for the American people. Millions of fabricated comments left on the FCC website supporting the repeal. Millions of real comments voicing that they wanted to keep it which were completely ignored. One FCC director made an impassioned speech when she voted not to repeal which Ajit Pai responded to with a flippant joke. It's disgusting.

Is it possible though that if there was more freedom for the ISPs then there might BE more competition? That more companies might move in especially if they know that everybody in the area DESPISES the evil Spectrum and would love to switch?

I mean honestly I dont know much about the issue but I do know some people believe that it could be helpful to repeal it. I think we should listen to those people and see what they have to say. Im open to both sides of the issue, and wont call the other side stupid.

I mean if something did happen the accusers should be blasted. But seriously we should wait and see. Because really the consequences of doing so are not that high....and everybody just sounds like idiots right now.

Honestly what prompted this was that Alexa Bliss, a WWE wrestler, accidentally liked a tweet from Paul Ryan praising this decision as what will be best for consumers.

she had to apologize after and say she liked it by accident because she got so blasted.

Seriously, WHY are we treating this like some massive sin? Its crazy. Paul Ryan is not evil for thinking this could be good. We might think hes wrong but none of us really know until it plays out.

And we can afford to let it play out and see because its not gonna make or break our lives

Lack of foresight 101.

I know that until 2015 we did not have this law, and we were ok.

I realize that apparently people were starting to act out.

That may be but if that's the case, then A. We are no worse off then we were then, the world didn't end.
B. We have no idea what the ramifications to these companies would be until it happens because it's never been a problem before.

Why don't we wait and see?

This isnt like health care where we cant wait and see because to wait and see would kill tons of people

Maybe our internet speed gets slower then we can get outraged and worry about it then

But this is NOt a life or death situation

It sucks but it is not an outrage. Its just a bummer. And it might not even be.

People actually said they regretted voting for Trump because of this.

People are actually harassing people who support the repeal.

When its such a low stakes issue. People just want to get outraged.

If republicans believe free competition will be better for consumers in the long run, thats their right, and theres no way to know until it all plays out who is correct.

I still think that people are being afraid of things that might not even happen

But the things we're mad about are OH NO ! PEOPLE MIGHT CENSOR A PEARL JAM CONCERT! MY NETFLIX PRICE MIGHT RAISE 2 DOLLARS! MY VIDEOS MIGHT BE SLOWER!

And if somebody believes the repeal could lead to something good they get harassed.

Its pretty disgusting that people are treating this like a life or death issue. Like seriously?

When it was the health care situation its one thing. Peoples lives were on the line.

But people are treating their Netflix speeds as important as frickin health care.

By all means be frustrated or annoyed that this happened.

But dont act like the other side is pure evil or harass people that support the decision. Its so frickin unimportant.

Heck, even just at road level jumping in front of a speeding car, ignoring that that could also injure the driver, why put them through the psychological trauma even if they aren't physically hurt?

I suppose though often a suicidal person isn't thinking super clearly and not weighing all these possibilities.

Do you really think a 12 year old would realize that him jumping could hurt somebody else? I doubt he thought him hitting a car would hurt the driver he probably thought it would just kill him
