Monkeys get a lot of protein from bugs and eating each other. I don't think vegans would approve. Vegans can be pretty strict. No meat by products, no parts from any animal. You are right. They still need protein. That can be very hard to sustain with strictly plants. And in my scientific opinion, they need meat. Kind of like us. We are omnivorous too but a meat eater just turns out so much healthier overall. It's in our blood. Same for dogs. Years of inbreeding, selective breeding etc ensure they inherit all the problems each generation. Which is why they're so expensive. Lots of testing, artificial insemination, c section birth etc. Really big dogs are more prone to bone cancers and other skeletal problems. Unfortunately, they only live like 8 years.
