I did once. I went to a sushi restaurant with my girlfriend at the time and her sister. the service was mediocre. dude kept leaving us unattended and it seemed it he was on cocaine. I wrote $0.00 in the tip section. he chased us down as we were leaving and told us not to come again.

That's pretty lame.

I honestly think any country that does this and then just goes "it's not customary" or "it's considered rude" is just justifying their cheap skating nature.

No, but I remember my best friend and I went to a Golden Corral in Jacksonville, NC one time and our waiter saw us literally once and we didn't see him again for the hour or so we were there.

Best friend left him a single penny as a tip.

Yes, but they refill drinks. Guy gave us our drinks at the beginning and never came back.

Yeah actually. Same as everyone else, the service was really poor so we opted out of the service charge.

Lots of times. If it's to go I'm not really being served or anything. If I'm being seated and appetizers take too long as well as the main dish, you lose a tip. Especially if they can't be bothered to say "we'll be a bit, we have many orders to attend to".

So you agree with servers doing significantly easier work than cooks and making 3 times as much?

If only every occupation paid on how well of a job one did..

This whole tipping thing has been debated to death already, but really it needs to be abolished

Raise the prices, w/e businesses need to do, but stop relying on the public to pay your employees

Youre a godamn fool if you think ppl like to pay additional fees just bc employers refuse to pay their employees an honest wage

If you work, you should be adaquetly compensated for doing so, not work your arse off for maybe a chance to be paid

Its fucking ridiculous

^ The states need to remember people get like $12+ to wait in a lot of other parts of the world. It's often more at nicer places. I'd tip more if I knew the poor people only got peanuts.

It's not so rude to not tip if they all get paid like $12-$15 an hour.

Its shit like this that pisses me off,

The server isnt responisble for how fast something is prepared

If you see its packed, dont expect the kitchen to drop everything to serve you, thee king of the world

This is an actually a legitimate reason to not tip, but if your server isnt the reason why your dining experience was under par, dont finanically punish the messenger

Once because our waitress was awful

At one point she came over with an empty drink tray in her hand to see if we needed anything, and it had a bunch of liquid on it, which she proceeded to just dump on the floor right next to our table

The only times I don't tip is when the service is shitty.

I did rip off the corners of a couple dollar bills and folded it up to look like a good tip, along with a note that said to write things down next time. He even posted it on Instagram.

As much as lol as that is, as long as the service was genuinely as bad as you claim it was, is 100% understandable. The issue i have is w ppl who think theyre holier than thou and think service ppl owe them the world and then some. Which is bullocks and those types of ppl are just as shitty in every other avenue of life and deserve every helping of shit they deserve

Yeah, it was bad.

I'd never go out of my way to insult someone like that unless it was ridiculous.

As most ppl who arent garbage human beings normally do, youre the type of tipper who plays by the rules the servers are subject to

No but one time at a red Robin, I went into the men's room and it looked like someone exploded. I mean, shit on the roof, the floor, rhe walls, the sink, everywhere.

I told our waitress and those fucks sent her in to clean it without realizing how bad it was. We saw her come out crying immediately and walked out of the building. Another waitress took over. My then girlfriend and I saw her outside sitting on the curb and gave her a $40 tit because we felt bad.

Yeah. They took our drink order, and didnt bring drinks. The food came out, we still didnt get drinks. I had to finally get up and hunt down a manager to ask for drinks. It took another 5-10 minutes before our drinks finally came. We, of course, never got a refill, and we waited 15-20 minutes after we ate for a check that they never brought. I, again, had to get up and hunt down a manager to get a check.

I was tempted to just walk out without paying at all. I did pay the bill, which had no discount, and I never went back again.

I tend to pay in cash but there's only one instance I remember leaving just change. The wait was incredibly long for food and it wasn't particularly busy. I have no problem with this but I only saw the waitress when she took orders and brought drinks. After waiting an hour without seeing her she had lost the tip. She said she can't help the speed of the kitchen which is true but certainly can relay the message of that it's backed up. When I finally got food it was already cold.

I was out with my gf once and she ordered a drink. The guy brought the wrong flavor, which is fine, but then told her that what he brought is what she ordered. She didn't stand up for herself and just accepted the drink, but was upset about it. So then I had to be a dick to him and tell him to bring the right drink.

Whole situation pissed me off pretty bad. On the plus side I got brownie points for standing up for her
