The reason it works is because Toriyama acknowledges he cannot write a story and doesn't try to outside his abilities. He filled a spot, and became a very important rung in the ladder. As far as events go though, banning people from events is essentially the only thing they have in their power. Like, certain types of tournament fraud lead to bannings, even though it's related to the TO as an organizer and not as a player. Or like when people got banned for leaking things, that had nothing to do with their conduct AT events.

Still, those things are directly related to the game and company.

Wizards didn't handle it that bad. There's precedent in bullying being the reason for a suspension.

In addition, Jeremy doesn't actually play at sanctioned events, so banning him does nothing but make a statement that they aren't putting up with ****.

They did handle it poorly because they should have stopped after making their original statement before the banning. They originally published a statement telling players their stance on bullying and harassment at events, and that people's recourse should be notifying a judge / tournament organizer / shop owner. This was a perfect response to the issue.

Then they handed down the lifetime ban and the seizure of his MTGO account. Which is the thing I have a problem with, This is ultimate punishment in two arenas that are entirely separate from the harassment of him making videos saying she takes advantage of people through patreon. If he was confirmed to have harassed people at events and over MTGO, or even if the ban was lighter, then I would feel differently.

And like you said, The lifetime ban isn't even a solution to the perceived problem. It was an extreme show of force for little reason other than flexing but sets a bad precedent for banning people for unrelated reasons.

I haven't really looked into this since the original happening, so if more instances of his harassment have come to light, I apologize.

Jeremy Hambly is the name, He is a dumbass shitlord with a terrible youtube channel, But I still recommend people look into the whole situation because of how poorly Wizards handled it. There is a lot unsubstantiated claims regarding Jeremy such as him 'being aggressive towards female cosplayers at events' as well as Christine Sprankle's actual motivation. All in all, I think the situation was handled very unfairly for Jeremy regardless of how I think of him as a person.

I'm of the opinion that pro-gaming is a sport, but its players aren't athletes. A sport is being any competition or game, but an athlete being specifically someone who trains in athleticism, (extreme physical exertion, running, jumping, throwing, balance, etc.)

Most sports are athletic, but not all are. To give a non video game example: Shooting competitions for example I wouldn't consider athletics, but still a sport.

Played about 10 matches in the beta, had no idea what the mechanics of the game were, but figured most of them out. The characters don't have that many specials, couldn't really figure out how to best use Android 18s throw, the wind up is so slow.

I liked it better than the original, Roy Batty is the only good thing about the original's writing. The first one felt more like just a setting exposition than a movie, and 2049 feels like a movie. They need to release 2049 on VHS.
