Imagine defending child molesters or some shit.

Really scummy people where all the evidence is absolutely stacked against them, but you have to still try to bs their way out of it.

How do they feel after successfully defending a scumbag who obviously did the terrible thing they're being accused of but the case against them or evidence was a bit spotty?

There's a whole lot of perks to living alone. Mainly you don't have to deal with anyone else's shit and you can just do whatever you want and have things the way you want without having to give a damn about other people. Peace and quiet whenever you want it, not having to share bathrooms, the list goes on and on.

Like another user already mentioned, be sure to go out or invite people over often though. It can be easy to start feeling isolated or spending a bit too much time alone as well.

Mine did this and it was fucking annoying because I didn't have anyone else at the time. So I'd ignore her for the longest time, but cave and "let her back in" when I was feeling extra horny.

I don't know why people can't just cleanly cut off all contact. It's gonna be a lot less messy for everyone involved that way.

No, because it seems like at the end of the day you are never TRULY happy. Either because you are always wanting something more/feeling like something's missing.. or because when you finally get what you spent so much time chasing (new lover, job, dream vacation), you find out it's not really what you wanted after all or the feeling fades so fast you don't even get to enjoy it.

Life as a kid was worth living, though. Everything seemed like pure magic back then and every day was full of adventure and new discoveries.

I think he's still living at home and has lived at home his entire life. He was probably "brainwashed" or had that belief driven into him by his parents/mother, since he hasn't really experienced enough of life to form his own opinion on the matter. I wouldn't really hold it against him.

Anyway, he seems like a genuinely good guy that ended up with a bit of bad luck and didn't really try to put himself out there or change things and now maybe it's too late for him. I can see why he has low self-esteem, but it would be nice if things could work out for him in the end. He's not really on either extreme side of the spectrum (say from Byron to Tadamoto). Just seems like a decent human being who had some bad breaks, doesn't impose on anyone or blame anyone else for his problems.

I'm in the shower washing my hair, look at my hands and see (what I think) is a few too many hairs.. "Fuck fuck fuck, I'm going bald!" >_>

Then everyone I talk to assures me it's normal to lose some hair like that, "science" says people lose something like 100-300 hairs every single day (seems like a lot but whatever).

I look at old pictures and my hairline looks the same, but I don't know how I can even tell for sure?

Guys of CE that are currently dealing with or have dealt with hair loss, what were some of the signs that it was happening to you? It would be nice to catch it early enough to do something. I'm turning 32 this year and feel fortunate to have a full head of hair up until now, but I really don't want to lose it until I'm much older or at all really.. that's a scary thought to me because I feel like a lot of my look/identity is tied to my hair.

a giant ass universe, there's no way we're the only planet with people.

yes it's a giant ass universe. so large that there can be billions of civilizations that are too far away to meet.

Sucks that we don't have the tech to meet them!

Do you think people know of our existence because they are technologically superior?

I'm just a pessimistic layman.

but here's the thing.

the nearest star is 24 trillion miles away.

I don't think we have visitors or will ever become visitors because of this

If we think in terms of our current technology, definitely... But I'd say it's at least possible that there is some civilization out there that has figured out how to traverse such distances in a relatively short time with much more advanced technology.

One theory is that if anyone had that sort of technology, much of the universe would already be colonized by now.

It's been proposed that there could be a rate limiting measure in place where a species is wiped out (say by their own hand via nuclear war, resource drain/mismanagement, etc or natural causes) before becoming advanced enough for interstellar travel.

I'd say it makes sense, since I very much doubt that we'll be around long enough to make it anywhere more significant than say.. Mars. >_>

You lose a lot going to MP3, but unless you have a discerning ear or an expensive set of headphones it likely isn't going to matter much. The benefit of MP3s is that the file size is extremely reasonable so you can load up your phone or whatever with a shit ton of music and not have to worry about it.

FLAC and other lossless formats will end up being several times larger in file size, but a must for any audiophile.

It basically doesn't matter who you vote for or what sort of political system you have in place. People are too corrupt to govern other people, and the corruption just gets worse the higher up you go.

Naturally, better this than a brutal dictatorship that commits genocide against its own people or something.

I can still see people not caring about voting anymore at all. The South Park analogy of "Giant Douche vs. Turd Sandwich" has never rang more true. It truly doesn't matter who gets your vote, they're going to take your money and run (while running your country into the ground and selling out your children's futures to boot).

I feel like that a lot of the time too. I feel like nothing in life is worth the amount of effort you put in, and everything just feels like a chore.

Also, often times if you do ever get what you want, you find out it's not really that great and doesn't enrich your life and make you happy the way you thought that it would. I bet this happens to a lot of guys that think getting a girlfriend would make their lives complete (as an example).

I guess if I feel this way I must be depressed, but I don't really feel that way. I have enough motivation for shit, I just don't see the point.

Sure, if you are particularly off your rocker or suicidal/broken beyond being able to function then it's a necessary evil to help you live some semblance of a normal life.

The unintended consequences/side effects of such things are numerous and particularly severe, though. I don't think you know just what's happening to you until many years later when you're looking at the entire thing in retrospect and realizing where you are now.
