Yep. Trying too hard is scummy, but making a couple hundred posts of random nonsensical gibberish that pretends to be scumhunting apparently wasn't a problem!

Inactivity is a much bigger problem there, partly because some people are idiots who play in several games at once. The mandatory 10-post limit does nothing, because these people will pop in just to make ~10 useless posts and leave.

About the only reason I'd ever consider playing another game there is if it were made by us or had what I felt was a heavy enough influence from us to stop them from weighing the game down.

I was MKed without warning day 1 as doctor after asking to replace (I was one of only two town power in the entire game) and was never given a reason why. Day 1 was mostly dealing with a player that's Corrik if Corrik were completely incompetent at everything relating to Mafia or even intelligence who basically controlled the entire first day and made the game unreadable. It was impossible to play because of that guy, and I wanted out... So I got MKed for it? Alrighty then. In a turbo a town player who was calling me "obvious town" nightkilled me solely to retaliate for voting for him. I never saw anything I'd consider high level play, but I saw plenty of examples like those. I can pretty easily name more.

Unless the game is small town will have other protection. If you bodyguard someone who gets saved by someone else, you still die because you targeted them too. Bodyguard is best used as a surprise role: Scum was *sure* town had no more protection left in that game. The game also had an ebg, who also died protecting Plum on night 3. I would've been flat out wasting my role to have used it on him.

Now say Plum was a scanner and not a roleblocker. Suddenly that surprise night 5 save ends up with a damning scan scum wasn't prepared for.

Plum actually blocked the kill again on night 6.

The problem is people do it for the wrong reasons, often for "fun". Eaed's exposure really hurt town here. Town has a solid chance of having RB alive with only one scum left of not for that fake scan out of nowhere.

I've told a major lie in one game, and that was claiming vanilla early on as a bodyguard that didn't even act until night 4 and surprised everyone by saving town RB night 5. I planned that out before the game even started.

That's basically it, that's the only time I've told a huge lie as town that potentially had major consequences. Plum blocked the kill night 4 and I could've been caught by the prosty, but I considered the lie to be worth the risk.

And in hindsight it's actually become funny to me that I was the only person on the town that wouldn't throw the game day 1 and I got lynched for it.

The massclaim was entirely led by scum players.

It's really weird though, my day 1 reads are often very good when I'm either mad at or don't care about the game at all, yet I always Lynch town when I give it actually effort.

I won't accept that he was pretending to be bad so scum would leave him around. He was just actually being bad with an unintended good side effect of being left alone by scum.

Alakazam is legitimately a bad player, which is actually why he's so hard to mislynch. He can make the most obvious mistakes possible but everyone just expects him to. If he played his scum game anywhere near how he normally plays he would've coasted through. Instead the pressure broke him immediately.

Lotta's pictures are always misleading and inconclusive, never pointing in the right direction. She catches "someone" unidentified that always turns out to be someone other than who people think it is.

The real problem is day 1 is and always will be a trainwreck and nothing you do can change that. Indecisiveness is at it's highest day 1, though this game didn't really have anything remotely close to a special

Also MI closing his account I'm sure isn't related so much to the game as something that happened. Some out of game event definitely happened that caused him to leave. He's one of the most established players here. If Corrik really was toning it down then I can't see that alone having caused him to leave. I suspect he will return some time in the future to explain what really happened.

I have no idea why Sceptile left, though. Dude was barely active to begin with so maybe he just didn't have it

What is Secret Hitler anyways? It sounds vaguely familiar but that's all I got.

The problem with resistance is there's very little to really master about it. The spies need to either get really lucky, have a really good town, or have some superb coordination.

I won once with Dels as spies because he gave me just enough of a clue. We were both on the team for phase 1 and passed it, both again on phase 2 with someone else and only he failed it, both again on phase 3 with two others and again only he failed it, and it ended up splitting town 1/1 on us and because of that I was able to fail phase 4 to finish it.

But you really need things to fall into place well.

Doesn't sound like MI to have a total breakdown over just that, I'm betting there's an outside influence involved. A pretty big one, and something here is what triggered the self-destruct. Speaking of prophetic, I'm pretty sure Crescent warned the town a few times before she replaced out about towns getting complacent and eventually imploding.

One of the issues with IM Mafia is many players can't handle the pace. The fact that we kept it going for years was pretty amazing in and of itself. My behavior is way more erratic in turbo-type games

The thing with forum mafia is it's a grind, so some lurking is useful in order to lessen the overall strain. There's just some people who sign up with no intent to give legitimate effort, and therein lies the problem

The movie was fine in any case.

Though I'd say if I had a gripe, it's that Finn and Rose got too much air time for how little either character achieved, and of course the worst of that being the 30 minute "side quest".

Neither character did anything to warrant their long screen time.
