As someone who owns and regularly uses both

For full on utility, Xbox One blows PS4 out of the water entirely. The backwards compatibility is insane, previous gen games are incredibly easy to obtain and play, and the interface in general is so much better than it was on the 360. The PS4 dashboard is sleek and fast, but Xbox One has things sorted in such a nice way that I kind of prefer it. And the fact that we got mods and cross-platform games on it is no small thing either, being able to play 360 games still with friends fucking owns. Gamepass is also great, it's like a version of PS Now with recent games, no net speed requirements, and for half the price.

PS4 has much better exclusives that I wouldn't want to be without like Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 and Persona 5, but honestly exclusives have played a much smaller role in terms of console desirability this generation than I think they ever have before. Console libraries are very similar when it comes to western games, and the PS4 doesn't really have anywhere near the glut of weird fun japanese stuff coming out that the PS3 did. The form factor and layout for the DS4 is maybe my favorite controller ever, though the Xbox one pad isn't exactly terrible or anything and has a really good dpad for 2d games.

Overall I think this generation is probably the one that's most pointless to console war over. Both consoles are great, their libraries are very similar, and their cost is now similar, so you only get people squealing about stuff the vast majority of people don't really care about like the One's ram or the PS4's shape

I will post one serious post in this topic- people voted with their money against Microsoft when the OG XB1 was released- its why the console has come so far regarding consumer friendly additions since launch. Sony did the same with the PS3 when they were down (well, aside cutting backwards compat). PS3 might be one of my GOAT consoles. Corporations only care about $$$, especially when theyre down. The exception to the rule is Ninty, who has never changed their shitty practices and regularly spits in their customers faces off on their own fuckin island
