Those two sports require completely different talents and physical tools.

Athleticism is athleticism. It doesn't matter what sport a gifted athlete plays in, they're typically going to be good regardless of what they train for.

No, it's not.

You can't play football (soccer) in modern day and age if you don't have the required skill.
Even goalkeepers need to be good with ball these days.

In basketball, there's less and less players that can't shoot threes. Traditional centers get run off the court by teams that have 3pt shooting centers.

Idk about NFL, don't watch it.

No, that really is my genuine opinion. I think it's really dumb how the top athletic talent in most of the world's countries are drawn to a physical competition with a handicap gimmick against using our species's most defining physical attribute.

Why is it a gimmick?
In basketball, you can't kick it with your feet.

And for those players, their biggest talent is skills with their feet.
Even if we ignore that you must possess certain physical talents (height) for basketball, put those players on basketball court, their potential ability is far from footballing one.
I'm taking basketball as an example because I don't follow any other team sports played in USA.

There's handball, that's also really popular in Europe. I always wonder why it never took off in America. It's everything you people see as entertaining.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handball
40-60 goals per 60min games, a lot of contact and rough fouls more than in basketball for exmaple.
Players are very athletic and a lot of actions are very aesthetically pleasing.

Do teams get relegated or being terrible is rewarding and gets you top draft picks like in the NBA?

Because the country is so big, you need at least a 100 professional clubs in top3/4 divisions and 200-300 semi-professional in lower divisions.

Yeah, you need relegation/promotion systems, second/third/fourth division and a lot more teams.

Inevitably, bigger cities will have the best teams, but that's just how it works.
Make small cities start from lower leagues and if football becomes their most popular sport they will surely get into the top division at some point.

I know US sport is all about spectacle and showbusiness, but current system is terrible for youth development.

If you for example have a 18yo prospect on a top division team. They can loan him out to second division team where he plays against actual players and not just other kids and gains a lot of experience.

Sums it up from I could see. If you were good, it was totally meaningless unless you had money. The UK equivalent would be tennis.

That's not US issue, that pretty much happens everywhere, especially in poor countries where parent see their kids as the only way to success and money.
It goes to the point where parents are banned from attending their kids practices and games.

As for why US isn't successful is a long story.
First of all, your sport structure can't work for football (soccer).
Higschool team->college team->professional team doesn't work.

It would be hard to do it only for football, but MLS needs to scrap the draft and introduce youth teams like everywhere else in the world.
Teams bring in kids to their youth academy, pay for their education during the process, players develop and eventually get to the senior team.
And that's just the start.

Depends on where you live.

In my region, it gets scorching hot during the summer, nearly Arizona level to compare it with US.
From mid-April to October you basically don't need any long sleeves.
From mid-June to mid-August it's really unbearable to the point that you don't want to go out before the evening unless you have to.

On the other hand, during the winter it gets cold, but rarely below 30F. Strong, winds are common, but it's manageable. Biggest upside is that there's basically no snow, maybe once in every 5 years there's a proper snowfall which doesn't melt instantly.

So, when I don't have to go out except for swimming or other summer activities, it's definitely summer.
But if you have to work a normal working time job here, especially if you have to go out, it's unbearable at times.

Origins wasn't even advertised as a new game and I really liked the story/characters.
