Luckily, they messed up at the start and you could earn loads of currency by just simulating games.
I never felt better taking free moeny from the developer.

No chance I ever spend anything on any of their games again.

Haven't played any other sports games recently, but nba2k stories are absolutely terrible.
Not to mention huge amount of pay-not-to-grind and unskippable cutscenes made for 13 year olds.

Yeah, being from Europe and NBA fan helps me with that throughout good part of the year.

I'd rather not sleep at all than sleep drunk. It's a nightmare when you wake up, especially during summer.

I lost my 4 digit. <.<
Was a kid, didn't have a credit card and bought it from a guy for like 10.
Had CS and maybe 20ish more games on it.
But it was an account from a CS server hosting site and when it got shut down, valve closed the accounts.
Since I didn't have any CD keys from it, I never got it back.

I mean developers used the Quake engine for a while if that counted.

As I said, quake is my second favorite FPS game series, but it never reached it's full potential.
And during the years of peak CS tournaments went from players sleeping on the floors and in their cars to them being professionals that earn a lot of money by playing video-games. Prizes also massively increased.
No other game accomplished that. Maybe starcraft in Korea, didn't really follow it that much at the time.

If it wasn't for CS, Valve certainly wouldn't have made Steam just for HL 1 and 2. We're looking at a completely different PC gaming history then.
Would someone else created a platform? Probably. Would it be so popular? Probably not.

1.6 didnt exist until steam, pre steam on WON servers the last version was 1.5

Iirc, 1.6 was in beta like a year prior to Steam's release. My bad on 2000.
1.5 was 1999 I think.
Then it was available for everyone in 2003, but they didn't expect it to be so popular and it completely crashed steam servers.

It's like Counter-Strike 1.6, then 2-3 tiers of nothing then we can discuss anything else.

-Most popular FPS game ever. Released in 2000 and still has nearly 20k active players daily on steam. That's just steam, 1.6 was widely pirated in non-steam version and I'd dare to say it's close to 50k daily.
It lasted for more than 10 years. It transcended gaming in some regions and was hugely popular everywhere but in the USA. A lot of people that weren't even gamers and never played any other game spent thousands of hours in CS.

-Evolution of esports. Quake and starcraft had some attempts, dota was gaining popularity but first tournaments with big prize money were 1.6.

-Inception of steam. Steam was basically made because 1.6 was so popular and all the way up to late 00s huge part of the playerbase used it for CS only.

I won't even talk about how huge amount of FPS games copied a lot of CS features and ideas.

I dislike 3rd person shooters, but I'm sceptical about melee combat in first person.

But knowing CDPR, their track record is perfect so they'll probably make another 10/10 game.

It's tiers below MGS1-3, but ever since I finished (if you can finish an unfinished game) V, I started appreciating 4.

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I'm pretty amazing at FPS games, been playing Counter-Strike for nearly 20 years now, Quake in the early days.

Was also pretty good at warcraft and dota, but haven't played either in a long while.

Great at sports games (FIFA/PES and NBA).

Not far off in racing games, had some great leaderboard times in GT5/6 days.

Was great in WoW during vanilla/TBC days.

Basically any genre except for fighting games, especially 2D. I'm utterly terrible at those.
