Not really, unfortunately. Awakening in general standardizes a lot of its cast into "tall, thin, conventionally attractive young people", even more so than prior FE games.

There are games that will change jokes and references so it will be funnier to the target audience. There are games that will censor stuff if it's thought it would be more inappropriate in different countries. That's all well and good (to varying degrees), but Fates just straight made shit up and changed things that had absolutely no reason to be changed. It takes an astounding amount of balls to take a character's entire personality and change it something completely different just because they felt like writing their own damn fan-fiction or whatever.

The latter is just the former, but now someone's upset about it.

Also other FE games straight up made stuff up in translation too so I'm still not seeing the difference.

With the exception of perhaps Hector Mode Unfulfilled Heart (in which one of the shops is guarded by Vaida, necessitating some rescue shenanigans to use it without baiting her... of just using a unit with mounted movement), shopping never creates danger. It creates tedium, as you have to redo it if you restart the fight. This is not fun.

There are definitely other dangerous shops if you're trying to access them during the battle (as opposed to, say, when only the boss is left). Pirate Ship and a few of the early maps come to mind. Mind you, they don't really create danger in ideal play (but few things do) but I mean for like, the average player.

I'm definitely a proponent of battle saves/turnwheel to not have to restart maps and do stuff like this over again though! Not denying that that part gets tedious.

Also I don't wanna derail the topic anymore so I'm gonna drop it here but tl;dr it's a flawed mechanic that I like.

Like I get what you're saying but you could justify removing stuff like chests, villages, even locked doors and enemies, by the same logic. I guess to me the chance of it getting you killed is the fun of it. It creates fun gameplay experiences.

It makes it dynamic and something that has to be incorporated into your strategy instead of just a chore you deal with before every battle (which FE already has a bunch of).

Every game has "full rewrites" (of a handful of conversations for a handful of characters, which still isn't a major thing like you're claiming). Characters that make sense in Japan don't in the US, so they get changed for localization. That's how localization works and FE has pretty clearly always taken that approach over transliteration.

Shopping during battle and not knowing when your next shop will show up or what it will carry are definitely pros to FE7, though I think FE8's "overpriced battle prep shop with just the basics" was a good addition and should have been in FE7 too.

If you want all the endings, play as Sonic and get all the emeralds, then play as Knuckles and get all the emeralds. Tails has everything the same as Sonic except he doesn't get to play the final level.

I'd imagine that's the case for most people. I feel like if you're seriously arguing Conquest has bad gameplay you're letting your distaste for other elements of the game bleed into your take on the gameplay, or you don't actually have a feel for what makes gameplay appealing in FE for most people and just attack the gameplay because it makes you come off as more intelligent or something.

Conquest's gameplay should be considered fairly solid for anyone that likes Fire Emblem, full stop. Like I'm not saying it has to be your favorite for gameplay but I feel like by anything resembling an objective measure it shouldn't really be considered bad in that department, either.

You can consider it whatever you want but I don't like it and I don't have to pretend to. I wouldn't recommend it to someone, which is what this topic is about. And I wouldn't tell someone upset with Birthright, "try Conquest, it's better!", because I don't agree with that.

Incidentally I don't like Fates' general mechanics at all either so I think we're probably starting the two games in different places to begin with.

Narratively the structure of Hinoka's map is also very satisfying. You're fighting a dragon-blooded pegasus knight commander on her home turf who uses dragon veins to bolster the tactical options of her own soldiers, but are given a weapon to counter this so that it isn't just "by the way here are some OP fliers for you to fight". It makes you really feel like you're breaking into the enemy's stronghold.

Whoa, so a couple things. I was talking about why Trump won, not why someone should vote for Trump. That said, I don't think you have any right to judge others for the motivations for their votes, or at least, that judgment is meaningless in a democracy. "Democrats hurt my feelings" is absolutely a reason people voted for Trump, and I single it out as a important cause because it is something within the power of Democrats to change. Seph is voting Republican because of self-interest - this cannot be changed by Democrats (short of changing their platform to call for even bigger tax cuts than the GOP). Not being mean is entirely within the control of Democrats and if we are talking about practical things they can do to win, this is what they should be focused on.

It's the perfect plan aside from all the evidence in the past that it doesn't work at all!

Swordmasters don't really get high STR anyway so don't let that stop you from class changing (though yes, Caeda, Lena, and Maria are probably better off in their current classes).

You could probably get away with reclassing Palla, Catria, or Minerva right now (assuming they have access to the class, I forget how SD works lol) but they wouldn't be immediate powerhouses or anything.
