lmao besides the fact that we have someone advocating for drunk driving in here, now we have someone who literally tries to not drive and has minimal experience on the road saying you should be able to drive as fast as you want because the law is wrong.

He then goes on to say that the idea of a speeding ticket isn't' enough to cause change in their driving habits but then cites that looking out for cops while speeding is stressful. Yeah, no shit? You're literally changing your habits right there because you're afraid of getting caught. Imagine what it must be like to drive reasonable speeds and not be afraid of getting pulled over lol. Don't drive like a dipshit and you'll fare a lot better with that, yeah?

I can make arguments without ad hominem attacks.
It's really easy when I have valid arguments to make.
Don't post like that and you'll fare a lot better with that, yeah?

I drive the same speed the vast majority of drivers do. And I said I try to drive as little as possible. I still have to drive for work, travel, etc... and have driven over 100,000 miles at least.
But you're just going to make assumptions, misread anything I post, and slander me every chance you can anyway.

I mean, i don't really give a shit about you so I'm not "slandering you every chance I get" but posts like this make me think you have a very limited worldview and that I shouldn't take what you say seriously. You literally say you live in fear of getting pulled over by the police. Normal people who don't commit traffic violations don't live like that and that's just the truth.

If you care more about the law than safety, then drive the speed limit. If you care more about driving safely, you drive the speed everyone else is driving, whether that's above or below the speed limit.

Near me are two similar highways that intersect. One has a speed limit of 45, the other 30. I have no idea why the speed limits are so drastically different for similar roads, but most people drive around 40 on both of them (most similar streets here are 35). Speed limits are often kinda' arbitrary, which is really obvious when you find those rare streets where almost everyone drives below the limit.

A lot of traffic laws are about safety, like driving drunk, and traffic lights, and do a genuine service in keeping people safe. Speed limits often aren't about safety, though.

When I'm speaking about this, I assume the majority of the people around you are all being safe drivers by following the speed limit or not disrupting the flow of traffic. I've never seen a single car in a pack of vehicles going 80 in a 65 zone get pulled over for speeding since that speed is what those in traffic have dictated to be okay. But if you're the one person blowing past everyone when they're all doing close to the normal limit, then you can get fucked for being a poor driver.

Mexico has many problems but when comparing human rights, they're far better off than Qatar and Russia. It's a no brainer. How about you dispute Russia instead of moving the goalposts to another country? It doesn't have to be a troll job. How about you try and educate instead of bringing in a superiority complex? I know you're not interested in doing so, but you'd look like slightly less of a fool if you did.

Do you need to talk about other countries or can you respond to Russia's non-free elections, corrupt courts, suspicious killings in the UK and more, homosexual concentration camps in Chechnya, not having a free press, the general treatment of LGBT people in the country... I could go on. So please, tell me why I should not include Russia on my list when they are a hellhole and try not to bring up other countries. Good luck!

Ignoring the fact that I'm sure your top 1 fantasy of all time is a Trump-Putin sex tape, I'm surprised a left-leaning centrist like yourself would ignore that Russia is a human rights hellhole that ranks 126th out of the 159 countries ranked by the CATO Institute's Human Freedom Index. They're even below the aforementioned Qatar (ranked 112).

Ignoring that the fact that you're trolling yet again, the CATO Institute is a right-leaning (some would say far-right-leaning, given its ties to the Koch Brothers) think tank with substantial biases. It's how a country using pretty literal slave labor (Qatar) could rank above Russia for human rights. But sure, feel free to write off a world leading, fully developed nation because of McCarthyism 2.0. Instead, you could have voted for some of the round's other top choices -- Rwanda and Republic of the Congo. I look forward to you discussing and justifying them moving onto the next round instead of Russia.

None of what you said changes the fact that Russia a human rights hellhole and I'd include the other hellholes in my list if they moved on. But they didn't so it's irrelevant goalpost moving from you.

Yelling that someone is trolling because they don't like a country that you like is pretty immature but that's just par for the course for you. Your only recourse ever is just a "no, you!" without any actual substance to it. I'm sorry that I dislike a country that treats humans like garbage. Get over it old man.

Yeah that's the thing too. The fine isn't all your paying. Your insurance can easily increase 20 or 30 a month for the next three years. So you're basically looking at in between 600 and 1000 dollars on top of your fine. Of course you cant blame the police for insurance companies but it is pretty fucked that even a minor traffic violation can basically cost you 1500 bucks in the long run

Breaking the law shows your insurance company that its more dangerous to insure you because you participate in dangerous driving. They have every right to increase your premiums

It was never actually shown them getting the money back. They denied their money back at first even if they did give it back. If they had just left it would have been up for a lawsuit.

You can hear the girl behind the counter saying "take your money and leave" or something to that affect.

Well legally they have to give money back in a situation like that.

Revelation34 posted...
It would be considered theft if they didn't give the money back.

Not 100% sure that either is really the case. Accepting returns is usually somewhat discretionary in most businesses and the nature of the food service industry further adds to those conditions. If they gave them money and got nothing in return, then sure, that's theft.

In this case, they purchased and received a product then tried to give it back and apparently said something along the lines of "I don't want it" (with one of her friends suggesting that it be thrown out). As soon as she handed the product back and said "I don't want it," that can be reasonably construed as ceding ownership. That doesn't create a legal obligation to give back money.

The grey area here depends on the nature of the complaint. If they received a completely different order (ie, a salad instead of a hamburger), they didn't get what they paid for (and it's doubly an issue if what they received was cheaper than what they ordered). If it's not done to spec or otherwise has an error, that's not theft (ie, a criminal matter), that's a civil matter. Given the context of the story, it's more likely a matter of things not being done to spec.

This isn't returns. They threw the food out. They never received the product.

They did get their money back though and then were refused service which they're allowed to do.

I'm still not jumping on this train. It's too easy. The whole thing seems like a sad propaganda campaign for the DNC to pretend that Hillary Clinton (and the system that promoted her) is blameless and perfect.

Until it's proven with things other than "Russia and Wikileaks gave Trump some dirt on Clinton" (oh no), that's where I'm going to stay.

There's real evidence that Hillary Clinton rigged the primaries, but not this. People actually hate her on the level as the least popular president in US history. That's science.

Yeah, I'm sure the bipartisan, republican led council is totally trying to make Hillary Clinton and the DNC look like angels. Yeah, that makes total sense.

I mean, barely anyone wanted him from SAC a few years back. Knowing he's a net-negative locker room presence and he's coming off an injury that typically doesn't bode well for NBA players, I doubt there were more than a handful of teams that would give him what he wants. NO certainly offered him more than 5 mil but it was so little that he didn't even consider it a serious offer. Considering how dedicated he was to Sacramento and they still burned him with the trade, I'm not shocked he left before another team could burn him as bad. Now there's no pressure on him to come back early and help a team get a good playoff seeding since GS will be #1 with or without him. He gets to rehab, still make some money and maybe prove himself in the late season/playoffs.

Zach Lowe illuminates a lot about the situation and he's one of the most trustworthy NBA writers out there.
