That costume looks like it came from a 90s movie. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Yesterday, Zachary Levi posted the first official image of himself in his Shazam costume for the upcoming DC film, and it was met with mixed reactions. Many of the doubters felt that the suit was too cheesy or cartoonish for a modern movie, but director David Sandberg is taking to Twitter to say, "That's kind of the point."

The Shazam! movie is meant to be a much brighter, more fun DC affair, so Sandberg and his team wanted to go all in on the glamour and silliness of the character. Therefore, instead of making Levi's suit all modernized and tech-heavy, the movie is taking things back to the good ol' days of the Golden Age.

As promised, Sandberg responded to questions about the suit on Twitter, and he told fans that he aiming for a more classic, lighthearted look with this design.

"I wanted him to feel a bit like an old fashioned super hero from the Golden Age of comics," Sandberg wrote. "Figured it would also make him stand out from the rest."

It's a good stance. I'm curious how people would expect a superhero who got his powers from a wizard and has a magic-word transformation to be modernized / tech-y. Here's hoping it pays off; this paired with WW might finally start turning things around for DC.

...alright, thanks for that.

In case my point wasn't clear, I wasn't trying to say anything like 'you all suck, don't even try.' Far from it. Music has a much broader scope of being able to reach other people emotionally than drawing, and guitar's arguably the most versatile instrument there is. Guitar will encourage you to be more social, as well as giving you better short-term and long-term praise and feedback (applause >>> 'hey, that looks pretty cool,' and trust me, the latter doesn't happen with near the regularity of the former).

I'm not saying guitar is easier; I'm just saying that as a hobby it's got better odds of making you yourself happy.

This too. Some of the Phenderix spells are basically cheat codes (unlock chests and doors, insta-kill any individual enemy, etc)

Extremely overpowered but fun when you just want to fuck around without having access to the console like on Xbox or PS4

Yeah, I forgot that a good amount of Phenderix spells are basically cheats, since I rarely use its hyperpowered spells (except the teleport spells, those are very nice).

The MA of Apocalypse, Ordinator etc is obseessed with balance, occasionally to a fault. I was raging pissed when I found out that he'd sneak-added a lowered cap to all enchantments in his Summermyst mod; fortunately by the time I found out and was prepared to give him an earful, he'd already made an update available that corrected it.

I'd like to see the crossbreeding resulting from Republic City's existence lead to mixed-race benders who could potentially inherit both their parents' bending arts (thus furthering the new Avatar's struggles with becoming obsolete).

That's not how that works

Well, obviously that's not how it works now. But the creators are more than within their power to let things evolve in a potential 3rd series. Cross-nation breeding was virtually nonexistent before the end of the 100 Year War and is still a relatively new occurance in LoK. A theme that's touched on lightly in TLA and heavily in LoK is how a spiritual savior like the Avatar struggles to maintain relevance in a developing world. The sudden existence of cross-element benders would further this theme by making the Avatar's powers far less unique.

Except the entire premise of the show is that only the avatar can bend more than one element.

You're being more than a little dense about this >_>
