For a food place, at least. For other retail places, Sunday shopping actually costs them money because they have to pay an extra day's wages but customers don't buy any more than they would without it.

IDK, most times I do all my shopping on Sunday. Specifically I do my shopping between 9:45 and 10:45 when most of the Christian crowd is in church. That way the stores are not that busy and they are plenty supplied with stuff. In fact my grocery store usually re-stocks around 9:30 so all the produce is fresh and I don't have to fight people to get it.

Plus I don't see why they have to pay people extra on those days, most people that work in retail usually have a schedule where they work 5 days a week, but instead of having the weekends off they have other days during the week.

i wonder what they will even call Elder Scroll 6 or are they going to drop the subtext because most people don't know what the hell elder scroll is and think it's an oline game.

this whole time Elder Scroll 2 was Daggerfall. i thought Daggerfall was just a sidestory set in that universe.

If you know enough about the lore, then the subtitles make sense. (Except Arena, but that was the first so it gets a pass). 4 could have easily been subtitled Cyrodiil, I will say that Oblivion does sound better.

As for what 6 could be... I am hoping for Elsweyr, but from the trailer it looks more like Hammerfell.

Dollar theaters are great for that. Usually it is only a handful of people and you can just sit in the back and fool around the entire show. Plus it is only a dollar.

We don't have any dollar theaters that I know of around sadly.

Yea, they are kind of dying out unfortunately. We still have one in "college town" (a nick-name for the nearby town that has like 4 colleges within it), but the one near me closed down. There is a 3 dollar one not too far, which I guess with inflation is essentially the equivalent.

Yes, it is.

South Korea pays half the costs of the American military presence stationed there, so it's not like the US is shouldering the full costs. More importantly, Seoul represents a power bulwark that has served to check China and North Korea's militaristic ambitions.

People seem to be forgetting that China is increasingly trying to lay claim to international waters that surround its territory, which are vital shipping lanes for the rest of the world (including America) and which would have significant economic effects if China were allowed to extend its influence into them. Or that North Korea, just a few years ago, torpedoed and sunk a fishing boat in South Korean waters. These sorts of actions absolutely justify a military presence in the region.

Far East Asia is a centre of power for the US, including America's own pacific territories as well as allies in Japan, Australia,New Zealand, and South Korea. I get that America is all about abdicating its international power these days, but surely at least someone on the conservative side of the political spectrum understands the inherent risks in this?

Not really, I mean you have people complaining that the US is too militaristic, then you have the same people complaining that we are reducing our military presence in South Korea. Which is it?

Plus, like you said with the nukes thing, it is all just a gentleman's agreement anyways. We want them to stop trying to make nukes, they want us out of South Korea. So that is what we agreed to. If one side doesn't keep their end of the bargain you can bet the other side is not going to either.

Most of this week is my usual summer dinner: Spinach salad with cherry tomatoes, avocado, and some type of protein (this week I grilled up a tri-tip steak and split it across 5 meals). Wednesday nights I usually get take-out or fast food. This week I am thinking about trying chick-fil-a, the lines since it opened up a few months ago have been insane and I didn't want to sit in my car for an hour+ to get food. I don't have a dog in this fight because I don't play DoA, but I don't like when things are censored just because of fear of backlash. It is a little bit different if it happens before the game is ever finished though.

I think it is more annoying in this case because the actual creator of the game was admit about NOT censoring himself when all this started. In fact he was one of the people that felt we needed more of it just to spite the people who were complaining.

That said, like I said before I don't think this trailer screams "censorship", although it does feel weird that male characters are shown more in a game where there are 3X as many female characters. Or even that male characters are not fighting female characters. I hope fighting games haven't gotten to THAT point, that would piss me off to no end.

My point is that I hate sitting through 90 minutes of conference, but if it is full of gameplay I will tolerate it a hell of a lot more then 40 minutes of Sony jacking itself off to completion for us all to watch. Sure, they showed 4 games, but at least they actually SHOWED us 4 games. You would rather they show us nothing.

OK, you can seriously fuck right off a cliff with that statement. I don't want to see trailer after trailer, I can get that on YouTube on my own time. I want to see gameplay, I want to see someone actually playing the game showcasing how the mechanics work and how my experience with the game is going to be. A trailer tells me you have nothing and just don't want people to forget about your worthless project, gameplay shows me you have something and gives me a reason to care.

I'll take 90 minutes of gameplay over 40 minutes of trailers any day of the week and beg for seconds.

Not at all. A store is just a place to exchange money for stuff, stocked with goods the store owner wants to sell. Those goods don't have to be produced by the store's owners (and in many cases, they are not), they just have to be purchased for resale.

Steam doesn't purchase the keys, they just provide an outlet for them to be sold. Again, similar to a mall.

That is effectively what they do. The nature of digital goods is such that Valve's purchase of the key from the developer happens at the same time as the consumer's purchase of the key from Steam, but that doesn't change that it's absolutely a retail transaction. Valve handles all distribution in exchange for their cut of the sale price.

Except Valve doesn't set the price, the developer does. Sure in a regular store a distributor can set a "suggested retail price" but the fact is the store can still sell the goods for whatever price they want. Not so with Steam. Even during Steam sales it is the developer that decides how much a game get's discounted.

In a way, yeah. Malls weed out those shops by charging rent; if the shop sucks, they won't be able to pay their rent, so they'll be booted out. It is really not that difficult: Steam is just a platform for developers to sell their shit. Anyone thinking they should even have quality control in the first place is insane. Why would a platform with unlimited resources to sell everything under the sun care what should and shouldn't be sold there? They shouldn't. Even the physical store analogy doesn't work because they only care about quality due to having limited space to sell their goods. Steam doesn't have that issue so they have the freedom to sell whatever game exists under the yellow sun. If people are stupid enough to buy the shit piles, that is their fault.

The first one is great, I think it might have been overshadowed a bit by Doom but it was kind of a "return to form" for FPS in that it threw a bunch of soldiers at you while not being a strictly cover-based shooter. Story is pretty entertaining as well.

Haven't played the second one yet, figured I would wait until I upgrade my graphics card.
