The first one is straight s***, I swear to God I regret ever putting money down for it. It had some neat visuals for like one or two levels, and the hub area before each chapter or whatever is probably the best thing about the game, but the gameplay and the story is f***ing awful. It suffers from a severe identity crisis - on one hand, it wants to be The Last of Us, and the other it wants to be Resident Evil 4 - so the entire product suffers as a consequence instead of working together. And the story is bats*** insane but not in the good way, it's wholly nonsensical trash that tries to tether things together so haphazardly it falls apart.

Piece of s***, and it's deterred me from ever touching another game in the series. I might get Evil Within 2 for like 10 bucks, but not a cent more.

What you're describing sounds a lot more like the second game than the first tbh, so I wouldn't recommend ever playing the sequel.

1 has some really great moments and some really awful moments to go along with them (nearly all of these being in the late part of the game)

2 is a bit more polished, but the gameplay is a lot more derivative and the storytelling is extremely bland.

I prefer 1 despite its problems.

It's pretty good, but WAY too hard. The difficulty basically picks up where the first game left off. If you thought the first game was already too hard I would NOT recommend the second. That said, the boss battles aren't nearly as awful this time around.

I never felt like Danganronpa was anywhere near as bad as Phoenix Wright about that kind of thing. Most of the time Danganronpa's logic feels fairly straight forward.

I think the first episode is one of the better ones, just know that if you don't like Chloe (spoilers: she sucks) then the game is not for you.

I have no idea where we're getting the idea that Kurosawa is a "weeb" director. He's one of the most influential and celebrated masters of the medium.

Also, I like actually like people like David Lynch and Lars Von Trier quite a lot and probably even a bit more than Kurosawa, but there's no denying that Kurosawa's legacy ranks directly alongside people like Hitchcock, Kubrick and Scorsese.

That's quite developed for a rough sketch. I like the process though, both it and the completed work look good.

I have others that are a bit less developed, but I guess when I say rough is that I make sure I get all the ideas out there in the sketch and then I'll only make minor changes or put together a background digitally.
