I hear it doesn't hold up well. It's worth watching though. Been years for me.

Two random ones: Sudden Death and Slap Shot. I'm a huge Penguins/hockey fan in general, and I live in Pittsburgh. Sudden Death is as obligatory for residents here as fries on sandwiches and Donnie Iris. Slap Shot is the quintessential hockey movie, and Johnstown isn't far from here either.

I haven't watched that much of the classics to be honest. To name a few:

The Godfather
GoodFellas
Schindler's List
Saving Private Ryan
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Shining
A Clockwork Orange
The Big Lebowski
Blade Runner
Citizen Kane

I did watch The Shawshank Redemption for the first time recently though. Great film.

idk, maybe some of the AFI classics. Never seen Casablanca, Gone with the Wind (which, by the way, is apparently either Jane Sanders's favorite novel or film -- weird fact), and so on. I dislike that I never got around to watching Ant-Man and I kinda keep putting off Dr. Strange.

However, I probably feel more guilty about not seeing certain tv shows rather than certain films. I still need to watch Breaking Bad, but I figure I'm going to run out Better Call Saul first (although I know enough about BB that it spoils some things about Saul -- such as knowing that certain characters *have* to live because they appear in BB)

The actual story is butchered in the movies by a few seemingly minor story changes, a bigger focus on appealing to children with magical hijinks as opposed to dialogue and development, and a change in directors every movie. A lot of what makes the books great is the character development as well as excellent foreshadowing. The movies fail in those regards. What saves the movies was the incredible casting and acting. Rickman, Fiennes, Gleeson, Isaacs, Oldman, and on and on.

I highly recommend the books though.

I could see some of this, because they barely deal with any characters that are not Harry Potter, and I could tell that there was more to the stories than simply Harry Potter. It would be like trying to tell Game of Thrones and focusing only on Jon Snow. Except Harry Potter himself is a pretty important but bland and unremarkable character. Just another messiah character with a parent complex, in a sea of them.

To be fair the movies never truly annoyed me (except for the glum tone of the final two). It's fun to see eccentric British acting in all its glory. I agree generally with fans that Prisoner of Azkaban is a good movie, even separate from Harry Potter. But I feel like there wasn't that much meat on the bone story-wise. I bet the books add detail, but I'm not really sure if I care to hear the details.

I don't feel guilty about anything I don't watch. It's usually for a reason. I refuse to watch Titanic because of all the hype that surrounded it at the time. Ruins the experience for me. I wish more movies were advertised like the one X-Files movie - not at all.

Definitely not guilty about not watching (or reading or playing) anything ever.

I'm sure there are classic films I've never seen, but I can't really think of any that matter. Just don't care.

I assume you mean camp? At any rate, 300 is definitely pretty good other than some shitty scenes which are best fast-forwarded through.
