Wait... what? This is one of your nominations Snake? I'm kinda shocked, didn't peg you for someone that liked Country. I, on the other hand do not care much for Country music. I can deal with Classic Country but Pop Country or what is basically known as regular Country now (since Pop Country now has evolved into something else) just never caught on with me. I actually don't even find this chic attractive at all if it tells you much how anti-country I am lol. I settled at middle of the road on the beat and vocals here and the fans clearly like it but I had actually never heard this song before and it is definitely something I'd never be caught singing along to.

If I wasn't brought up on Sega I would have totally trashed this at the bottom of the list. Thankfully for the nomination, years of owning different Sonic games have diluted my impatience for this type of music. Not a ton but it isn't in the bottom 100 at least. It does immediately make me think of classic Sega Saturn games like Daytona 500 and Virtua Fighter though. I never owned Sonic R which is where this is featured but I did play it back when it was released. Sadly it wasn't long after this game was released when the Saturn and Sega went kerplunk on the market. It was a shame though because I loved my Sega Saturn. :(

Write-Up:
This song started out giving off a great first impression but it began to lose my interest in the first 2 minutes. Maybe I was expecting more out of it or something but I mostly felt unsatisfied by the end of the song. It does have a sort of atmospheric rhythm to it in a few spots which is cool. After reading through the lyrics I think I was more impressed with the message than anything else tbh as it is quite poetic. I'm guessing that there were other songs that maybe go hand in hand with this song since it seems like there is more to the story here but I really haven't taken the time to look into that further. The impression I mostly got from this song though is that the main character wishes he could go back in time to change some things based on his knowledge of present time in his life. Most of it is up to interpretation though since it sounds like it could have several meanings really. If anyone is interested, feel free to tell me what you think.

Bad Company by Bad Company from Bad Company... so original lol. Despite my joke this is actually quite a classic. It's got an ok beat and vocals and is a semi-popular choice in bars and clubs (in my experience). Not a lot of internet hype for this song though which was a bit of a surprise to me since I thought it was actually a popular song everywhere. It never even charted here in the US believe it or not. It still sits near the bottom of my selection of 70's tunes though which I hope says something about what to expect as we go further up that list. Supposedly this song was written based on a set of "Victorian Morals" whatever that means.

I'm thinking that I'm just not a fan of Art Rock because this is the 3rd song (out of the few) so far under that classification that I have dumped here in the bottom 300. There really aren't too many Bowie songs that I do find a particular interest in if I'm being truthful but among his fans this song has rated very high at least. I feel like it should be much lower since it really isn't all that exciting to me personally. I need something with a more engaging beat and melody for sure. Thankfully we have the Top 800 or so songs to look forward to. =)

Right off the bat, the vocals and message in this song are quite tolerable. Unfortunately the beat is kinda missing in some places and the song doesn't really become all that catchy imo. The rhythm is too up and down to jam out to on the radio for sure though. There is a pretty sweet solo about 4:00 minutes in that I like but overall this is the kind of song that I'm fine with hearing only a couple of times in my life. (Can't wait till we get near the top 1,000 though where the write-ups start to get more informal and I don't have to wing these so much.lol)

I think when I first ranked this it landed a bit higher but then kept getting shoved down the list for other more memorable tunes. Parts of the song are pretty good like the chorus for example but some of the verse is bland. I am not sure what this song is supposed to be about and the video only makes it worse. The beat is fair though and this song actually did quite well on the charts.

I was really intrigued as this song started since it immediately reminded me of the score that is used in the movie End of Days which happens to be one of my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger films but then it changes the uptempo transforming the song from what I was expecting to hear to something totally different. That something different is louder and more inconsistent with it's beat than I saw coming. The vocals really feel out of place at certain points as well. I guess the only thing I had ever really listened to and liked that was close to Symphonic Metal before this was Metallica's S&M album.

It's a good thing I am not ranking these based on the videos too since this singer is just weird looking with her bony jaw lines and all imo. That outfit is totally ridiculous too.

Write-Up:
Without headphones I had trouble distinguishing the background guitar rhythm in this song. It isn't a terribly big deal when you know that I'm partially deaf anyway but it really dulls out the song since it sounds monotonous on the radio or without the headphones for me. I wasn't that familiar with this song before this ranking and Ziggy Stardust is by far my favorite song on this album so I rank this with some auto-bias. It's got a fair following but I feel like it might be an acquired taste really. If you aren't into lesser known 70's rock then you are probably already not interested only 15 seconds into this song.

What... the... f*** is this? Disco is such a weird genre to me. Some of it makes total sense but a lot of it is filled with odd beats and strange innuendo like this song for example. I mean, am I wrong? It sure seems like these chics are singing about riding someone all night long. It's very weird how we've evolved from such a sexual revolution into the sensitive #MeToo environment we currently live in today. This seems to be a pretty popular song though but I wonder if it's because these girls are parading around in nightgowns tbh.

Pretty good beat here and although the overall sound seems familiar I don't think I've ever listened to a song from this band. It's making me think of something else from the early 2000's that I can't bring a name to atm. It definitely has a familiar feel to it for sure. The album that this song was released on was actually leaked early online before the band even announced there would be a new album which must have been an inside job right? I don't see how else it would get out there since it doesn't seem like a whole lot of people are into this band from what I can see. The band didn't even make that much fuss over the leak either and still released the album on track with their original plans as far as I can tell.

I feel like I was not far from this band a few years ago. I know there was a big event at my local mall surrounding the Hot Topic store so I'm almost sure they were there signing autographs or something. I couldn't find much info about it though so maybe it was someone else... I dunno anyway, the vocals here are rough but somehow work for the song. The band was actually originally called "Stars and Scars" back in 2005 a couple years before producing an unreleased EP in 2007. I find it interesting that the lead singer went on a solo quest appearing on The Voice in 2012. If she sang this song or like she did in this song I doubt that anyone would have turned around for her. Her voice is pretty scratchy at times.

This band doesn't seem to have too much of an online following. Reviews and opinions are kind of in short supply from what I can see.

I'll be totally honest here, there isn't much that I like from Motorhead. I do like their version of Metallica's Enter Sandman though but other than that I can't think of much else that comes to mind. This song sounds like it is much older than it is to me for some reason. I honestly thought it was from the early 80's. I want to say the whole song sounds kind of amateur-ish but I'm not sure anyone would know what I mean. I'm almost pretty sure this song was featured in the movie Airheads but it's been awhile since I've seen it so I'm not necessarily confirming that here.

Ok. Ok... this is different. I'm sucked into the 80's nostalgia but deep down I'm conflicting with my subjectivity. It's funny and awkward in a charming way (I see you) but... I've never heard this tune before and I'm afraid to like it. Great beat with no argument but the lyrics drag it down with the hightened amount of quirkiness. No normal person would take this song seriously and who could I listen to it on the radio with? I don't know anyone in my personal life that is gonna let me get away with letting this one play. I do get the joke here though and it's obvious the creators had fun with it.

I used to work with a dude at a retail warehouse and he obsessively played stuff by Deep Purple on an old half busted cd-boombox. One of the speakers was slightly damaged so it had a tiny static bend to anything that it played. This song forced that static sound into new heights and made everyone in the room quite aware that the damn thing was broken amd yet no one ever shut the friggin' thing off. I'm serious lol, the damn fools in the room would let it play as if there was nothing wrong at all. Anyway, I tell you that story so you have a better understanding of my disinterest in anything Deep Purple. This has a decent beat but I feel like the song doesn't truly find itself if it is ever a living thing and doing some soul searching. What I mean to say is that I feel like there could have been two or three songs bouncing around between David Coverdale and Ritchie Blackmore when they created this tune.

Some decent guitar play going into this song. It's slightly gothic but almost all 80's metal in a figurative kind of way. Obviously it's literally 80's metal but hopefully that makes sense. If I were to have had no idea what decade this was from, I would have said the 80's is what I'm redundantly getting at. Anyway, I've seen plenty of promotional material for this band over the years but have barely heard much from them. Not sure I was ever specifically disinterested but I just didn't shop their section at the record store partially resulting in my lack of experience with them.

Hey, our first Country tune to make an appearance in the ranking. Never heard this song before but it sounds like a classic. Too bad I don't really listen to a lot of country. There once was a time when I did live in the country though and this type of music is all that could be heard on every local station. I kinda do like the beat though. It's soft and simple but it sounds quite melancholic which is always a favorite theme of mine. The vocals are good and I really get the sincerity in the message through the melody.

I think the more popular version was done a couple years after this one by Glen Campbell but I don't have a strong preference either way. Glens version of the song appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and regained some popularity for the tune. It's ok but I wouldn't go out of my way to hear it.

This sounds like a really sad song and I'm not entirely sure I understand it but I kind of feel bad that I haven't bumped it higher for the vocals. At first I wasn't really hearing it but after a couple listens the sensitivity used in each verse is really kind of heart-warming. If I ever get really depressed I'll probably look this song up since it seems like it could draw out some emotion. The piano play is cool but it doesn't really grab my attention like I thought it should. It's possible that is because the piano disappears behind the rest of the song for the most part or at least for me I forgot it was even there a couple of times because of the vocals.

Write-Up:
So I have a weird feeling about Taylor Swift... and it's not in my pants. Some of her music I think is fantastic but then some of it I completely think is mediocre. This definitely isn't as mediocre as I make it out to be but I don't have an ear for it unfortunately. Does being half deaf have anything to do with that? Maybe. I guess one positive way to view my position on this song is that I don't hold it to the same standards as her most popular stuff which isn't to say that it is terrible, but that it just isn't as good as the songs I like. While tolerable of course, this song sounds more like disc-filler to me also. There is something obvious about it that says it isn't the best song on the album imo.
