Semi-automatic civilian versions of those rifles are what's being used. People don't know shit about guns so they go based on looks alone, thinking that there's more relevance to a gun's aesthetics than there is. It's like calling a regular Mustang a Shelby Cobra. It's also ridiculous that they call an AR-15 a high powered rifle. It's a fucking .223, that's a low powered rifle. The whole point of an assault rifle is to use scaled back ammunition for controlled fully automatic fire. A high powered rifle would be like a .30-06. A rifle's power also doesn't mean much at the ranges you would find in a school shooting. Any rifle will fuck you up from 20 feet away. |
