They fail as bad guys, and by that I mean they're not convincing. They come off as a joke. Hux is a comedy routine, and Snoke is undeveloped. Kylo is interesting but one guy can only do so much. The new trilogy doesn't have good enough antagonists to deliver the desired level of conflict and drama. It feels so stale and impersonal.
